I can't believe people are defending a cashier fully knowing the customer isn't able to keep up and choosing to throw food on the floor regardless. Maybe crying and shaking was an extreme reaction but you can't empathize at all that she might have been super embarrassed? What if other customers had their phones out recording the situation making it even more stressful? What if she's dealing with mental or physical health issues? Christ, does it even matter.

What if it was your own mother that the cashier made cry? "Should have packed faster, ma! Brought it on yourself!". Lovely.
Reminiscent of a small child who thinks its funny to make their mum upset and cry

Pathetic! sneered The Cashier towards the woman, her lip quivering as it glistening with an errant tear as her trembling hand reached to grasp a fruit that had fallen to the side.

Customer service is not what it used to be, she replied. Wheres your manager? she demanded.

A round man with squinty eyes waddled over smackingly and brashly declared, No one wants to work anymore! This was all we could find.

I don't know if people are trying to say that, as much as they're saying "Why were his racist jokes funny, but his trans jokes (at least the ones before his last 2 specials, where it was more him preaching than telling jokes) weren't?"
Ive said this before when one of his specials came out but I thought the one joke he told years ago where he said one they/them, or many they/them, (coming after him) was funny.

No, he isnt playing a character and thats not even something up for debate or interpretation. It is not ambiguous. This has been thoroughly established through multiple specials, public speaking, and statements made.

Its not something you need to take anyones word about. These are facts which have been established for years.

If Dave Chappelle got up on stage saying Im team racism! and started peddling racist disinformation, talking about black people are genetically inferior or have different brains from white people, pseudoscience about being different kind of human, so on and so forth, he would absolutely get torn to shreds by the same people calling him out now for his unabashed bigotry and transphobia.

Nobody serious is buying tickets to that dog and pony show, and the only ones carrying tickets have a clear agenda fueled by their prejudicial bias.

Similarly, if he wanted to make jokes on trans topics that were actually good rather than serving as little more than a vehicle to be a transphobe, we wouldnt see this kind of public outcry. Poor excuses all around.

Or look to settle things quietly, but any lawyer would smell blood in the water in a case like this and potentially make demands far beyond what the damages would actually be.
In Texas damages are limited for a plaintiff to 250k or 500k because of a law signed by Greg Abbott, who himself received a >$5 million injury settlement.

The spin now is that you're a racist if you don't find his trans jokes as funny as his old jokes, because apparently that's the only possible way you might think that.

Or maybe, just maybe, his trans jokes actually aren't that funny because they're borne from a place of hatred and ignorance, and his old jokes at least seemed to come from a place of experience.
One of the complaints about his newer material, aside from eschewing comedy to attack the LGBT+ community, is his erasure of black trans lives and experience, and pitting minorities against each other. This is from voices of the black LGBT+ community, and allies, who work together with intersectionality in mind.

This is facts and no one wants to have this conversation.

He didn't change tactics that much. He just changed his target.

Thats why ultimately a lot of the outrage in response even if it comes from a good place(and hes not helped the situation by doubling down) kinda has rung hollow to me.

That being said. He was more creative when he had the outlet of doing skits.
Im sorry, but this does not pass the sniff test.

He has not attacked his own community like he has attacked the LGBT+ community. Can you show me where he unironically states Im team racism! like when he stated Im team terf and sided with JK Rowling?

I dont think so.

Can you show me where he dedicated entire blocks of full length Netflix specials to launching attacks like he has done on the LGBT+ community, then fumbled to misappropriate art as a shield for being openly bigoted and hostile? These are his genuine beliefs, airing his grudges, using his platform and power very irresponsibly to harm vulnerable members of the public and shape social attitudes.

You dont have a leg to stand on about this. Its not exactly a secret here that you dont support the trans community where you feel criticism of his open bigotry and hostility rings hollow. You should be more genuine to yourself and to us.

Not sexuality. I always knew I was attracted to women.

I have often wished I was born the other sex, though. I remember wishing that from a young age. I don't have dysphoria, so I don't want to take the steps to transition. Especially in the current climate. If I could press a magic button to change I would, though.
Its actually common for trans women to not realize they have gender dysphoria or to believe its not that bad before transitioning, due to trauma associated with depersonalization and repression.

I'm really hoping for as close as we can get to a major Democratic win Congressionally after this summer, or else it really does look like the future is fucked, if not already. Obviously, it's not just the U.S. that's a factor in this, but seeing the level of standard we set in global commerce, I'd hope to see a quick trend toward actually constructively doing real work about mitigating and reversing the effects of climate change.

The Inflation Reduction Act took so long to pass because of people like Joe Manchin, so there needs to be a big enough win that people like him don't need to be placated. Ideally meeting the criteria to get around filibuster problems.
We already have 4C+ warming baked into the system by the end of the century by conservative estimates, which that amount of warming alone in such a short time span spells mass extinction for complex life on Earth. There is no way to reverse that without removing massive amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere with nonexistent or otherwise magical technology.

We cannot maintain the current population without fossil fuels anyway. Our entire civilization and way of life is built upon exploiting energy from fossil fuels along with mass agriculture.

The public is largely unaware of the gravity of the situation, with the impending collapse of modern civilization and probable extinction of the human race fast approaching (along with most other forms of life on Earth.)

We are already at about 1.5C above pre-industrial avg temperatures (1850 baseline) and will hit +2C by the next decade. It is accelerating, with no feasible means to slow it down or much less reverse the heating.

??? Who said it was an excuse? It is just what it is. I know the imagery of rowling fuming and breaking her keyboard before going to her giant billionaire keyboard closet to pick out a new one in tears makes everyone warm and fuzzy in their tummies but it just isn't how it is, except maybe the keyboard closet part. BIllionaires do not give a FUCK about what any of us think, ESPECIALLY not even in their own continent. They DO however still love the attention of their peon subjects, thus the Jk Rowling twitter cycle is born and shall continue until the day she grows old and dies because people will never stop replying to her, and she will never stop loving that attention
I dont imagine you were smashing keyboards while typing out this little melty.

Rowling absolutely spends an unhealthy amount of time seething, she writes entire novels of transphobia about getting mobbed on Twitter, painting trans women as rapist predator murderers, essays, appears on podcast interviews to frame trans people and allies as like the death eaters on potter, etc.

Imagine writing whole novels and publishing them, that takes work, and her motivation was irrational fear, anger, and hatred.

Good time to remind people that grabbing the throat and/or strangling in domestic violence incidents between partners is a major indicator their life is in danger and needs to get away from that person ASAP!

If you know someone in a situation like this pass it along or get them some help, because this is what happens before a partner is killed.
