Warning: article contains disturbing content

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-68716467

Michael Macartney, 50, who went by the alias "Torture King", was charged in Virginia with conspiracy to create and distribute animal-crushing videos.

Mr Macartney was one of three key distributors identified by the BBC Eye team during a year-long investigation into sadistic monkey torture groups.

Two women have also been charged in the UK following the investigation.
-
Mr Macartney, a former motorcycle gang member who previously spent time in prison, ran several chat groups for monkey torture enthusiasts from around the world on the encrypted messaging app Telegram.

They sent their ideas to video makers in Indonesia, along with money, to make these specific films and distribute them in the chat group. The article contains some descriptions that I wont share here of what they wanted done to these monkeys, which also included baby long-tailed macaque monkeys.

According to charging documents, Mr Macartney, who lives in the US state of Virginia, is accused by prosecutors of collecting funds from his chat groups and distributing videos depicting the "torture, murder, and sexually sadistic mutilation of animals, specifically juvenile and adult monkeys".
-
Mr Macartney has cooperated with investigators from the Department of Homeland Security and agreed to plead guilty to conspiracy charges. He will formally make a plea later this month and is facing up to five years in prison.

Speaking to the BBC Eye investigations team last year, Mr Macartney confessed to his role in the torture network, describing himself as the "king of this demented world".

"I was the man," he said. "You want to see monkeys get messed up? I could bring it to you."
-
The BBC understands that more charges are expected to follow soon for other key players in the monkey torture network. At least 20 people were placed under investigation last year globally, following the BBC's investigation.

Three participants have already been charged in the US, including Mr Macartney. Two torturers were arrested and jailed in Indonesia, and three women have been arrested in the UK, two of whom have been charged.

Holly LeGresley, 37, of Kidderminster and Adriana Orme, 55, of Upton-upon Severn were charged last month with publishing an obscene article and causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal.
-
In the US, two others have been charged with the same counts as Mr Macartney.

David Christopher Noble, 48, a former US Air Force officer who was previously court-martialed and dismissed from the military, and Nicole Devilbiss, 35. They are both facing up to five years in prison.

Let's at least keep it real here.
Its funny because they also mentioned quotes being accurate, and then deliberately took his words out of context by not including the first part of the quote complaining about the woke boogeyman.

What happened to the two sisters is tragic, doesn't give you an excuse to condemn an entire gender.
If a woman murdered people and someone said "something's seriously wrong w/ women,' the poster would have a month long vacation from the site within 24 hours.
Terrible comparison, misandry isnt a systemic problem like misogyny. The patriarchy perpetuates misogyny to the detriment of men and women. Not misandry.

Labeling an individual person horrible and bad because they are man would be an example of misandry.

I've lost more and more interest in gta the more and more they've shifted towards the more realistic stimulator style gameplay they've been doing. Plus the cancer that is gtao.
GTA is a lot of things, but simulation style gameplay it is not and nor does it try to be. This is apparent from the driving to the shooting, and the spirit of all the gameplay mechanics throughout the regular DLC releases and QOL updates.

This will very much carry over to GTA VI. Its got some of the best driving car play of any game, but it is distinctly arcade game-like and not comparable to car crash sim games or other driving/racing sims, for example.

GTA has its share of problems, especially if youre on PC, however that is rectified by playing on current gen consoles. Beyond that, legit complaints can be made about gating content behind their relatively new paid subscription model for GTA+ members.

Glad to see we have a few eager beavers ready for some literary learning!

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/Retcon

Reframing or adding to past events to serve a current plot need. Take the page image: a pre-existing space elevator is in the city, but one did not appear to exist earlier in the work despite the fact that a building reaching up into space would be plain to see in any wide shot. However the current story requires a space elevator, so it's been added and treated as if it's always been there.

In its most basic form, a retcon is any plot point or detail that was not intended from the beginning, but treated as if it always had been (contrast this with The Reveal, where the author usually intended such an addition from the beginning). The most preferred use is where it contradicts nothing, even though it was changed later on. An ideal retcon clarifies a question alluded to without adding excessive new questions.

While the term comes from comic books, dating to All-Star Squadron #18 in 1983 and shortened to "retcon" by the end of the decade, the technique is much older. Often, it's used to serve a new plot by changing its context or expanding an existing setting; however, it's also done when the creators are caught writing a story that violates continuity and isn't very plausible.

See also Ass Pull, which is something that was not properly set up before it is sprung on the audience, and Cliffhanger Copout, in which a perilous situation is retroactively changed to allow the characters to escape. It is related to Deus ex Machina. Some, but not all retcons are Ass Pulls, and a good retcon can actually improve the current narrative. A good way to get away with a retcon is to reveal new implications or motivations for events that have already been established.

Smoother retcons won't be distinguishable as such, and can even make what was initially an Ass Pulllater look like everything was Just as Planned. (In other words, No Prize it into plausibility and away from the dizzying realm of the Ass Pull.)

The retcon is considered by many to occur when current events contradict the past continuity of the series and is evidence of a Writer on Board. Perhaps more often, the retcon does not actually violate Canon, but rather violates fanon, the set of unstated interpretations usually made by the audience (an interpretation violated this way is said to be Jossed). Most competent writers achieve a retcon by relying on a less-obvious but still perfectly valid interpretation of what was previously seen.

Thats not accurate at all, but Im happy to have helped broaden your horizons on the meaning of what a retcon is.

Dumbledore couldve been straight, or gay, bi, pan, ace, demi, or whatever you want. The author later establishing a sexuality retroactively affects the continuity. This most definitely includes new information that was not previously established, particularly in a book series as new information is introduced in later volumes that retroactively affects continuity.

Retroactive Continuity is when new information is added to a story that retroactively affects continuity. It doesnt even have to be something contradictory, but sometimes it can be. Sexuality definitely falls under this, if it is not initially established, as well as any material related to a characters backstory.
