i can manage holding it for 16hrs, though i generally dont drink or eat stuff for a bit before and during flights.

dislike the sensation of flying, even if i enjoy travelling itself .

I think ive only had to go twice, across like 20 flights now.

I always go for the aisle seat. I dont like climbing over people if i have to go to the can.

Same with sporting events, for the same reason.

I went in September last year! Definitely a great trip and one of the more memorable ones.

Others have commented on the cuisine - I def agree, but two things I really enjoyed that you should look out for are the icelandic hot dogs, and rye bread ice cream. Both can be found in Reykjavik, though I also had a hot dog in Selfoss.

My favorite waterfalls were Seljalandsfoss and I'm blanking on the other one. Another user mentioned them - the one that you can walk behind (Seljalandsfoss) and the one within a cave. They are walkable to each other.

Glacier lagoon and diamond beach are also really cool and if you are near those areas, I'd def recommend.

Try to look into conditions for the northern lights - there are sites and app that show what the conditions will be the nights you are there. It was really cool to see this in person and I got some really awesome time lapse footage on my GoPro.

There were other things we couldn't do due to the season we went and/or couldn't fit it in. Didn't see any volcanos (the eruptions took place after our trip), and didn't get to go into a glacier cave (they weren't open for another month).

I also went to Blue Lagoon + Sky Lagoon and can confirm Sky Lagoon will fulfill your need. Do the cold plunge! We also wanted to check out a less commercial, more rustic spring, but couldn't fit it in.

Have fun! Hope you're excited. Bring warm clothes- I'm sure it's super cold now.

Edit: Also look into when you're going next month and whether it aligns with the equinox. That's why we chose September - supposedly you had a great chance of seeing the northern lights around the equinoxes. That, combined with I think next year being the peak for Northern Lights, may mean you have a pretty good chance of seeing them.

Thanks for the tips! Im trying to soak in as much as possible - i already booked a zipline on day 1 and im seriously considering saying fuck it and booking the copter tour.

4200 how

From toronto i got a flight for less than 500 CAD in october and no way i spent 1000 for accomodation for 5 days

Part of it was a 4 star hotel in downtown Reykjavik for 7 days, the other was two separate flights to get there. Again, not stressing, ive already covered the cost.

Keep us posted! Iceland is number one on my bucket list. How much did it all cost you?

It wasn't cheap, but honestly, fuck it. Once in a lifetime, refuse to feel guilty over it. Basically a flight/hotel package of about 4200 bucks Canadian (flying from Alberta), added in a 4WD Rav-4 (it's illegal to drive on non-maintained roads without), that was about a thousand for the week (half now, half on arrival, free cancellation up to he day prior, free GPS, unlimited mileage).

So far. I'm looking into doing ziplining, northern lights boat tours, among other things. Excited.

Don't try the local cuisine. Iceland is the culinary equivalent of the lowest pit of hell

Kstur hkarl (treated shark) is the one infamous Icelandic dish most tourists are made to try at least once.
Hkarl, in short, is Greenland shark or other sleeper shark which has been prepared by a fermentation process (buried underground for 6-12 weeks, actually) and then hung to dry for four to five months.
It has a distinct tang of, well, urine, and is served in small cubes as a sort-of hors doeuvre, often followed by shots of Brennivin

Yeah i'll pass >_>

You mean like when Mark Hamill said he was done with Star Wars/The Joker, and then came back for both, both times?

Or when Daniel Craig said he would slit his wrist before playing another Bond movie and then he did do another Bond movie?

Been at Costco for 15 years and i can confirm this is true.

Ive seen managers quit on the spot, break down and cry in front of me due to stress, go outside and drink hard alcohol, many go on stress leave, one was babbling incoherently on a walkie talkie because of the stress, etc. Our managers get texted by the boss on their days off, vacations etc to go and do this or that or plan this or that.

Ive been asked several times if im interested in management. Oh hell to the fuck no. Even for double the money i wouldnt do it, i value my mental health too much.
