Starmer confirms Labour won't scrap the two-child benefit cap, saying "we havent got the resources to do it at the moment" (source: https://tinyurl.com/mtcsy5f9 ).

Starmer thinks letting children starve is better than making rich people pay a tiny bit more tax. I was going to add "that tells you all you need to know about him", but actually it doesn't even scratch the surface of how awful he is.

Labour have often been slated as being the party of "economic failure" so trying to distance themselves from that by appearing more fiscally responsible is a sound strategy. Don't get me wrong. I'm not a fan of Kier but he's obviousl doing something right and hasn't fallen into the traps many previous Labour leaders have fallen into.

The stats speak for themselves. They are 22 points ahead.

I say this after the recent election notice in the UK. Neither Kier nor Sunak come across as leaders. I can't remember the last time I saw someone on the world stage who inspired me and I considered a leader.

Its a fair comment. So lets say for the sake of the discussion its not a real currency. Is it still not a decent investment? Or at least probably more importantly... was?

I mined about 50 worth of doge when it was still a pup. I sold some about three years ago and made about $5,000. Covered moving fees for my new house and a couple of stag parties abroad.

A) I wish I'd mined more.
B) You could pick up 100,000 for about 100 back then on e-bay. I wish I'd have purchased more at the time.
C) I sold it near the peak but looking like it might surpass that in the future at which point I'll be sad I didn't hold onto it but really I cashed out at the perfect time for me.

Slowly been DCA it and up to about 1,600 now but I could have made a lot more had I been more confident in it back then.

I also messed around trying to get Bitcoin mining working when it was worth nothing but found it too complicated so I didn't bother. Wow. How things might be different had I made the effort. Wonder how many other people have those regrets?

After decades of Tory scaremongering, it's not hard to see why Labour prioritize not scaring away voters with 'radical' policies.

My real fear is they get TOO BIG of a majority which will empower the different factions within the Labour party to start thinking they can make demands and threaten not to not tow the party line.

I hope they get a large majority. I hope they use it to implement a humane immigration policy, properly fund education, welfare, and the NHS, and look to repair the UK's relationship with Europe.

There's also the fact the Tories haven't really let on to what sort of state the coffers are in. Labour can't promise anything until we get an accurate figure on the books. I believe now the election has been called they'll get access to the books.

The unknown state of funds is one of the reasons they've been playing it safe and not committing (much to the disappointment of Labour supporters) because they just don't know how much money they'll be to spend when they get in. Hopefully how we'll in election territory and they get access to the books we'll get some more concrete commitments in the manefesto.

The Tories are just giving up, I guess.

They are just picking the less worst time.

Today the UK reported a drop in inflation figures which are almost back to Bank of England targets. This is alongside an almost 30% drop in average energy costs.

There are also strong indications that the upcoming legal challenges to the Rwanda plan (scheme to send migrants off to Africa in case you were curious) are likely to fail so they'll want one before that hits the fan.

Interesting times ahead for the next two months. Shame we can't talk about politics on the UK board any more. Politics is probably the biggest discussion raiser we have on that board and incidentally post and topic counts have massive dropped since it was banned.

Admittedly a good question. There are many elements and I think it just needs enough of them to reach that arbitrary point. I personally feel Hollow Knight is right at that threshold, so I can see arguments on both sides.

But what makes Stellar Blade a soulslike? It doesn't even have a penalty for dying. It's just an action RPG more like Nier. Admittedly, I haven't played it yet but nothing I have read suggests it is a Soulslike.

"Estus Flasks", "Bonfires" and reappearing enemies when you rest are the three I can think of plus like the other guy said a heavy emphasis on parrying.

What would you add on top of this as the required criteria needed to meet the definition of a soulslike?

I do appreciate like the term roguelike it's more a feeling than an exact science and massively subjective so maybe a fairer question is more what makes Stellar Blade NOT a soulslike?

Its Microsoft. Theyll find a way to monetise it eventually. And yes there are other tools out there. But Microsoft will do their usual thing of making it free then when enough people sign up charge for it.

You don't defeat Hamas by giving Hamas more reasons to exist. You have to create conditions on the ground which are not conducive to the political ideology of violence.

I agree 100% and have said this exact same thing in the past. I don't mean to dismiss the past by the way. If it came across that way I genuinely apologize. I just feel like the focus should be on moving forwards. Too many posts are spent arguing the past. And while I don't disagree we should learn from the past I wish more people would spend time trying to come up with solutions rather than win an e-argument.
