From a purely political point of view I dont get Biden. He seems to be pissing off both sides over this. Maybe Im being unfair. I know I tend to criticise what Hamas has done and also at the same time what Netanyahu has done as well and Ive been accused a rampant genocide enabler and also a fervent antisemite for the same posts previously. Maybe thats the issue with the whole situation. While we can argue power dynamics in play and I absolutely accept that is a fair point and a big issue, this isnt a simple case of Hamas bad and Netanyahu good or vice versa. Its far more complicated than that and ultimately I feel the only position anyone should ultimately take is one that leads to a decrease of innocent civilians both Israeli and Palestinians. And on that front Biden and most of the western world have failed.

I dont have an issue with DToast. Much like Allen I feel his hands are tied. It feels clear the changes were made by people above him and the mods were given no warning over them. Ive always found him to be reasonable as long as you approach him with respect. Which a lot of users havent as based on this topic. As for fandom as a whole... I dont wanna get modded.

Depends. If its a business account you can disable that functionality. For consumer stuff no idea.

Depends. You can enable files on demand that means the files stay within the cloud and only download when you open them from the OneDrive client on your machine.

Once they are downloaded they update pretty much immediately whenever there is a change to the file that isnt synced.

MS invest approx 1 billion USD per year in their security. It effectively makes them the biggest security company out there. The biggest thing anyone can do to increase their security with M365 is to make sure MFA is enabled.

I dont think any system is 100% foolproof but I would say the risks of keeping in M365 is a lot lower than most mom and pop companies Ive done IT audits for have for keeping things in premise. A lot dont even have reliable backups!

Personally I dont see it as that big an issue. They cant account for every single fad theres ever been on here. Where the rule for not being able to post cool story bro or rickrolling. There has to be a line somewhere and a fad that only happens on one board is well below it in my personal opinion.

There are many thing to criticise Fandom for. This is low on the list. I find its more crazy how there is no mention of politics in the rules despite that being their flagship change to the rules to date.

Yes. Thats been addressed already. The issue is the wording imo. The issue itself was limited to CE on the most part. The rules apply site wide.

Hence why I think a sticky on CE would have been a good addition to the original post on the announcements board.

Oh definitely. Its worth doing some research. I did a rudimentary google search before responding to your post and it sent me down a rabbit hole where its hard to know whats true and isnt. The official line seems to be one of these victims were in a processing camp and the plan was for it to be consensual to avoid pregnancies during their processing but due to a lack of translators a lot of people took it without realising 100% what they were signing up for. The other side is Israel purposefully gave them the contraceptive to stop them being able to have kids but if that was the case why accept so many Ethiopians in the first place and why use such an inefficient method for doing so. I try not to let my pre existing biases affect my critical thinking but its hard when everything you read is biased in one direction or the other to know the full picture. In this particular case I feel like it was an admin fuck up with translators rather than intentional for the points I raised above about Ethiopian birth rates in Israel but I honestly wouldnt rule anything off the table.

I agree a sticky would have been more effective, but I understand why something wouldn't be listed in the main rules if it was mainly happening on one board. I do think the no politics rule should be listed, but I'm guessing they didn't list it because of the complexity in narrowing it down.

It was more it was only a problem on CE. Not it was limited to CE.

Oh no doubt. I know it's splitting hairs and I'm probably doing my usual OCD over analyzing semantic things but my issue is that being forced contraceptives against your will should be a big enough deal in itself to be worthy of heavy criticism without needing to call it full on sterilization which based on the article linked it wasn't.

Especially when you consider the article linked had this:

It's abhorrent regardless and the people responsible should get put away for crimes. It was even such a big deal it became a contentious point within Israel itself with Israeli's criticizing it.

@zikten - did you mean to say sterilization or was is a mistype? I feel like if you double down despite what the article you linked to suggests you do your own position damage because it comes across as taking an obviously horrible situation and purposefully using words that carry more emotive weight to try and give your point more impact. You don't need to do that. I think most of us are all on the same page here when it comes to some of the things Israel have done over the decades. Forced contraception is bad enough on it's own. Obviously if there are recorded cases of forced sterilization I'm more than happy to be in complete agreement with your original post. We're in agreement anyway on what happened being awful but I always feel like facts are important. Even when being used against parties that we both agree have done horrid things.

That's fucked up no doubt. That link suggests it was a contraceptive they were given that needed to be taken every month for it to be effective. A minor difference from full on sterilization unless I'm reading it wrong but fucked up non the less.

Israel doesn't really have any respect for converts or minority Jews. Like there was a huge scandal (and crime) where this minority group of African Jews were sterilized. They had the women go to a hospital i think supposedly to get vaccines or something, and then they would make the women never again able to get pregnant. I'm not sure if these people even still exist. I think this happened years ago and the people might have all died now by now. With no offspring. Which is what Israel wanted

It basically means its often better to have the guarantee of one quantity of a thing in your possession than have the chance to obtain two you dont have.
