Koga, after reading this topic I have two pieces of advice.

1) See a therapist. A real one, not some dude who was practicing psychiatry in the fucking 60s. Therapy is not really a cure, but they can give you the tools you need to improve, or learn how to handle your hang-ups.

2) Just meet people. I know that's not an easy thing, but you don't get better at stuff by not practicing. Don't go at it with the goal of getting into a relationship, just meet people. Talk to people. Hang out with people. You don't have to be the life of the party, just get some solid experience with other people in a safe environment. When I went to college I had such bad social anxiety I literally didn't leave my dorm room for a solid week, except to walk 20 feet down the hall to microwave food. And it took me 10 minutes to pysch myself up for that. I still have social anxiety, but the only thing that made me able to deal with it was being social.

I guess, also, 3) Move some where that allows you to do both of the above. You don't necessarily have to live in a big city. If you can drive, at least live near a place that has stuff going on. And if your family is making you feel bad about yourself, get the fuck away from them.

There's also not really a point in counting the years where you're like 19 or younger since typically those relationships if you have them are quite short lived and not actually serious.

Its extremely painful breaking up with a girlfriend of 5 years tbh. It leaves a huge fucking hole in your heart that wont probably ever go away.

I've been to a couple weddings, but they aren't something that really appeal to me. So the further away it was the less I'd go. My boyfriend and I aren't planning to get married even though we've been together for 10 years so it's not a thing that matters to us lol.

Honestly I wouldn't go. But if for some reason I did end up going to a wedding then I wouldn't care if there was a delay between the marriage and celebration. Especially if there were good reasons for the delay.

My wife and I got married two years before our actual wedding. My wife needed insurance so we got government married in 2017 then just did a destination wedding in Vegas (where we live but we knew family would come to Vegas). We only told a few people and ended up just doing the reception. No bullshit ceremony or vows just a party.

Not to be a jerk to the bride and groom, but with that kind of distance the jet lag would kill me. I'd still have work to do after all.

Planes are not suitable locations for someone of my size to do any kind of stretching. I can't even walk down most aisles in planes without having to walk sideways or regularly hitting my head. It's really better off for me to remain seated, and the window seat lets me do that more easily.

Regardless, I don't do "long haul" flights. Never needed/wanted to fly that far.
