Kim_Seong-a posted...
Why do so many responses to criticism resort to turning things into hypothetical binaries between what was received, and the most cartoonishly extreme example of something else? FF7 is about 30-40 hours. You could make a single 80-100 hour rpg that expands on the original in a satisfying way.

Just off the top of my head, you could cut the train graveyard from the Remake by two thirds and get rid of the entirely superfluous boss fight and story. Just treat it as it was originally, a short pace breaker between two major story parts. So much of the remake is unnecessary bloat to justify the length. >_>

wut

GTFO

The expanded train graveyard was one of the best parts of the original and helped build some stakes with monsters not only killing people, but kids to boot.

There is so much else than can be trimmed but I loved this part. I love that they took a regular enemy from the original and made it something so much more with the remake.

Democrats - both before and after these people lose their internet lets not campaign on infrastructure and affordable utilities.

The internet should remain a paywalled commodity, even if its almost impossible to get work without it now.

What do you expect Democrats to do here exactly? As long as the GOP is allowed to exist, anything that would legitimately benefit the public, like the internet being a public service, has ZERO chance of coming to be.

did he fail though?

Id say yesat least on a certain level. Yes, he made money, but I only ever hear people talk about The Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, and sometimes Split with reference to his truly great titles. Even Signs, which feels like it was more hype at the time than anything else, sits at a 6.8 on IMDB. Above average on RT and comparable to his others, but The Sixth Sense is really his only standout hit there. Even Unbreakable and Split dont come close to the reception that one got.

The Village (arguable, I didnt enjoy it personally and thought the twist was glaringly obvious)
Lady in the Water
Thr Last Airbender
The Happening
Devil (this one is my guilty pleasure - I enjoyed it)
After Earth
The Visit
Glass
Old
Knock at the Cabin

All of these received generally average to below average or even super below average ratings. His issue is that, following on the trails of Sixth Sense, he spent a significant portion of his career just building movies around twist endings rather than building a compelling narrative that eventually lead to a twist. The reception to many of these feelings is, IMO, a direct response to twist fatigue audiences probably felt whenever they saw his name attached to something.

I guess failed is technically the wrong word here since he has obviously made a ton of honey in his careerI just hope his daughter does something different beyond just building her movies around (mostly) predictable twist endings.

https://www.seattletimes.com/nation-world/republicans-to-launch-longshot-effort-to-recall-gov-gavin-newsom/

SACRAMENTO, Calif. A group of Republicans involved in the failed 2021 recall of Gov. Gavin Newsom said Monday that they plan another attempt to remove him from office, a longshot bid that would require more than 1.3 million valid voter signatures to qualify for the ballot.

Rescue California, which ran a campaign in support of the 2021 attempt to recall Newsom, is the main proponent of the new effort, said Anne Dunsmore, campaign director of Rescue California. Dunsmore said the group planned to deliver recall papers to Newsoms office Monday, which was first reported by Politico.

She pointed to Californias massive budget deficit and what she described as Newsoms focus on campaigning for Democrats in other states as reasons why voters should back the recall.

Its not a good time for him to check out, Dunsmore said. But if hes going to check out, well kick him out.
