Your car manual literally says less than 87 will leave to engine damage; you're fine to do 87 if you'd like. Use 91 if you're going to take that car on a track, but 87 is good for normal use.

Also,

thanks. never even heard of "Top Tier" certified fuel. but it looks like something most gas stations around me use.
Directly in the manual, it even talks about "Top Tier" lol. FYI: Costco gas is "Top Tier", but Sam's Club gas isn't. Does this really matter in a real sense? Eh...

for real? the manual does specifically mention "knocking". is that something that will be really obvious?
Putting anything lower than what they say is okay (e.g., lower than 87, or E15+ fuel) will result in knocking or engine damage; though this won't be immediate (it'll take time, and it won't be a one-hit, you're fucked scenario; except for maybe putting E85 fuel in a car that cannot handle ethanol fuel). If you ever find yourself accidentally putting in like 85, and you're scared, you can go into the gas station and buy an octane booster bottle to put into your car. But like I said, you doing this accidentally here and there won't kill your car.

What car is this, anyway?

If your manual recommends 91, and says 87 is still okay, then 87 is okay and you wont have to worry about engine knocking or anything like that (the engine is built to adjust the ratios for ignition for this lower octane gas). The only difference youll experience is lower gas mileage and lower performance.

there is no law in the US saying that restaurants are required to provide water.

While yes, theres no explicit law that says restaurants must provide free tap water, most counties point to the International Plumbing Code for buildings and establishments to follow. And guess what the IPC requires? Free access to water.

I hope people here realize that if your car says regular 87-octane is good, you get no benefit in adding mid (89) or premium (91-94) octane. But if your car says it needs mid or premium, you better put mid or premium, otherwise your car engine might start to knock and cause more issues.

One of my cars says 89 is preferred, but 87 is also acceptable; the manual says you can expect less power and less efficiency with 87, and I actually see this difference when I drive it. And since I get gas at Costco, where mid is unavailable, I put premium in that one (premium at Costco costs less than mid at normal gas stations anyway). All other cars I own currently requires only 87, so 87 it is.

Ask him about his bonuses. Like how much he takes in bonus money.
That one is easy, since were a government contractor I looked up our contract! He makes about $400k/year, which isnt a lot for a CEO of ~10k employees. However, the bonus structure is 0.25% of entire payroll split between the CEO and his 13 direct reports (executive managers) per year. The way its split wasnt defined in the contract from my quick read, so I bet its not an even split. But for funsies, lets said it is:
$120k average salary * 10k employees * 0.25% = $3,000,000 / 14 people = $215k/year in bonuses, should they meet targets.

As I said above, prove to me that it will be abused to such an extent that it will be a significant detriment to society. None of this half-baked assumptions, not anecdotes. Actual, real, reputably sourced studies that show that universal health care, when properly funded via taxes and used for the benefit of all members of the population, will be abused to the point of non-function. Not with the Tories or other conservative parties deliberately sabotaging it to prove that it doesnt work, not based on studies funded by think-tanks in the pockets of the insurance companies deliberately skewing the data. Actual, real proof.

And Ill bet you cant provide that proof, because it doesnt exist.

Your opinion that all people are shitty and looking to take advantage of a system does not justify robbing the majority of good, hardworking people a service that will benefit everyone. Yes, some people absolutely will abuse the system. But you are doing more harm by championing a system that has and continues to fail us than those people ever will bilking the system.
