Completely expected. Somehow only Mike Pence of all people has shown any sort of moral fortitude on this position.

Pence supported Trump until the mob came for him. So calling that moral fortitude isnt something I agree with.

Youre talking about a tiny fraction of people who get targeted by Republicans to ensure that they get covered for every dumbass issue there is.

The Democrats dont skew where the bulk of their constituents are on the fringe like Republicans.

Its bigger, more ideologically diverse so while there are several positions within the group it does tend to get boiled down to 1 or 2.
