[LFAQs-redacted-quote]

You're not asking me, but I want to jump in.

Do I have a problem taking a first date to McDonald? YES. I have a problem taking them to specifically to McDonalds because of the setting, it is not romantic, it is not conducive of having a nice meaningful conversation, there are usually lots of kids and teenagers running around. And it is not a special or memorable setting.

However would I take a first date for a cup of coffee and/or ice cream and then go for a walk in the park. ABSOLUTELY! That sounds like an awesome First Date. And that would cost half as much as a McDonald's meal.

That's not valid at all.

I want to reiterate again (just in case) I'm not claiming most woman are like this. So I hope no one takes my post and digs into that.

I'm just making the point that a first date to something cheap and easy is perfectly fine. As some (both men and woman) have these absurd expectations for a first date to "impress."

It is not valid to act like an entitled person on a date expecting someone to take you some expensive or even higher end resteraunt. It's a first date to see if you two want to get to know each other further. Same to thinking someone needs to put in a ton of consideration into the first date to go somewhere thatll impress, dazzle or surprise you. It's a first date.

The point of a first date is to get to know each other.
Exactly....

Let's call a thing a thing. This is the move of a "gold digger"

The video is likely fake, but pretending it is real (because there are people who think this way) the problem isn't her that she doesn't like Shakeshack it's that she very clearly is saying the problem is how much money he spent on the meal, actually asking to see the receipt.

If dating is about getting to know each other, what does it matter if he spent $5, $50 or $500, especially on a first date.

All you are entitled to on a first date is to get to know the other person. If what you care about most is how much money they spent... well there is a word for people like that, something close to silver miner.

I hope it's fake. If not she is a super bitch, and he is an idiot for sitting there.

The main reason I think it must be fake is... I'm assuming he didn't blind fold her, take her someone place, sit her down and then present the food. "Surprise we're at Shakeshack."

He had to walk her to Shakeshack, she saw the sign on the door, she saw the menu. She was okay with the order. And then when the food arrived she suddenly has an outburst?

Why did she wait until the food was in front of her to complain?
And when she started to complain why did he just sit there and take it. Either leave or tell her to leave. "You don't want to eat this food, you don't have to, I paid for it. Bye Felicia"

Usually, but with how much trans people are being demonized lately, I can easily see a politically-motivated judge showing leniency during sentencing or the charges being decreased from murder to manslaughter because of nonsense claims from the defense (as happened to Harvey Milk's killer, thanks to the original "Twinkie defense") as a result.
Sadly I fear this is the case too.

It's the deep south and the teens own family rejected him. What are the odds of getting 12 strangers from a small town in South Carolina feeling sympathy for a trans teenage.

Real talk

First, if his research really found this he should explain why his research is wildly different than literally every other piece of research on the subject.

Second, I call bullshit on he needed an armed guard. Maybe if he was a public figure on TV shouting to an all black audience "Police wouldn't shoot you if you didn't break the law" then I'd be like yeah everyone would be trying to kill him.

But he's a boring Economic professor who wrote a dump paper. I'm sure fellow academics were piss. And it probably got posted online and got to some listical and some more people were pissed. But so pissed that he had to walk around with armed guards... give me a freaking break. No one cares that much.

Last, this could count as "Whataboutism" but it's not, but Fryer was suspended from his job because 5 different women accused him of sexual harassment. Sort of doesn't matter, but it does because these women were research assistants, and even after the suspension was over he was not allowed to have research assistances.

This wouldn't be relevant EXCEPT he makes a point of saying his had two sets of research assistances to confirm the data of this report. OH... you mean the same type of research assistances you were trying to bang... my dude your "research methodology" isn't exactly above board.

Basically, this is a suspect dude, making a suspect claim, under suspect circumstances.

Better than Better Call Saul?
I have not seen Better Call Saul, so I will not say it is better or worse.

But regardless, the Practice is an amazing law show, especially when talking about stuff like this. From what I remember of Breaking Bad Saul IS a scummy lawyer protecting scummy clients, he is the stereotype of ambulance chancers and corrupt lawyers basically helping their clients BREAK the law.

The Practice the lawyers are doing it but to protect the rights of everyone, not saying they are white knights, but they put the idea of what Defense Attorneys do in a more positive light.

Aw screw it, if you've got two minutes watch this scene
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XOVq2zKRpA

It's good but not even the best/my favorite on how the show champions that it's important EVERYONE has a good lawyer. even the worst criminal scum in the country are entitled to a zealous defense.

Brown was out of office long before Harris was Attorney General, before she was a Senator, before she was VP nominee.

The Mayor of San Fran does not control state and National politics ESPECIALLY decade after he leaves office. She did not get to where she is because of her sex life, and it did not hit the national press when she was tapped for VP because people hate when politicians get ahead because of personal connections.

It got to be national news because the best way to tear a woman down is to slut shame her. The best way to put a woman who is becoming too powerful in her place is to bring up the time in her life when her sex life wasnt pure.

I repeat Harris has made more than her share of mistakes as politicians, but without fail the first attacks against her are to slut shame her.

But when Kamala was nominated to be VP, within HOURS there were articlels and News Talking heads saying she was a bad choice because she slept her way to the top.

Not attacking her for a job as senator, Not attacking her for job as a prosector, Not attacking her because she wasn't even the best black woman in the running for VP.... they were attacking her because she was a woman and that means if she was successful it was because she was 'a slut'

This always bugs me. Every single TV show portrays defense lawyers this way.
Watch "The Practice" (BTW the best Law ever made, Boston Legal a much dumber show was spun off from it and because it was stupid, it became way more popular).

The Practice was about a small Criminal Defense Law firm, and the premise is they did whatever it took to get their clients off and treated that as 'noble' because the only way to assure the police and prosecutors ONLY convicted the guilty is to give every defendant a zealous defense.

It often dealt with the moral weight it put on the defense attorneys, but it highlighted the importance of their role in a functioning legal system. Seriously best law show ever, tragically underrated.

I would try to encourage her to not take EVERY high profile rich guy sex offender case that walks in her door, someone HAS to defend these guys, but SHE doesn't have to defend ALL these guys.

I would encourage her to donate some of the money from those cases to worthy causes.

And I would encourage her to take on a more diverse client set particularly clients who can't afford a good attorney.

But at the end of the day, she is an adult, she is a lawyer, she has to make her own decisions.

In fairness to Twilight, vampires in that setting don't actually mature beyond their physical appearance. Edward has been around for a century, but he is still an eighteen-year-old in terms of maturity.
That's not better.

This means any girl he is with either outgrow him or he will turn them into a vampire stopping them from growing.

Like a High School boy who throws his girlfriends acceptance letter in the thrash so she never go to college so she stays with him forever.

I have defended twilight, but it is not defendable. It has countless horrible ideas about relationships. And so so so many concepts that if a male author wrote them for a male audience both the writer and the reader would be #metoo'd (and rightfully so, because the shit is beyond sick).

The men in this series treat the women like utter trash, they are controlling, manipulative, emotionally abusive and worse.... and this is called romantic... by women.

Edward being 100 years old is like the least of the problems.
