You step into their domain and they have no qualms mauling you. Most big cats, including leopards will straight up attack people if they're given the opportunity.
Crocodiles, hyenas, articulated pythons/boa constrictors do not fear humans

iirc though polar bears are one of the very few that will actively try to eat humans even like great white sharks do not do that iirc

Ok so a difference being this is a detention center meaning they haven't been convicted yet. But yes under 18. We might have a 18 year old for s short period if he turned 18 while with us. It's more like a jail where someone straight off a a arrest gets taken. Though adult jail will keep convicted people of the sentence ain't too long. We don't.

I haven't been here long but I've seen more mental health issues on the adult side. We got two that may have some but one i feel is faking it. Idk but I feel it. Then again we got more if you consider rapists a mental case. But 2 of those where statutory rape which means the victim "consented" but due to age couldn't legally. And oddly both of those cases the victim was a family member.

There is attempts at rehabilitation on the adult side just not enough and it's all on a voluntary basis. But us officers where not a part of it. Only rehabilitation we offered was.dont like how you are treated don't fuck up and end here then.

I just didn't like how Uncle Ben died. Like what the hell was he doing. He did everything wrong. And they guy robbed would not give him a penny from the jar that is there to help people get penny. Like I always side with Peter not helping the Jerks who get robbed.

I think Andrew was a better Spider-Man and Peter Parker than Toby was. Toby Peter was more of a pushover. The AMS movies were more comic accurate to his character than the Raimi ones.

Mixed bag. Staff assualts are more common and less we are allowed to do to defend ourselves but they are way stricter on the kids to try and lower that. Like they gotta ask permission to do damn near anything like even getting up and walking to another spot. (Think the strictness perhaps helps cause it though but then again they also know we are very limited on what we can do in a fight) they got more structure for the kids though so there is far less contraband like drugs as their time is pretty much occupied all day long and there is actual attempts at rehabilitation unlike the adult side where they just offer programs but it's strictly voluntary.

I took more pride in the adult side cause I was damn good at what I did but I'm happier to support this because the actual attempts to rehabilitate. Plus it's a more laid back job. I can bring my phone in or books etc. All that was a no go at the prison. Well my shift anyways kids are supposed to be I'm bed on third so they give us staff some extra privileges to help keep us awake. Prison didn't care go stare at these 4 walls for 12 hours but dont dare nod off

so it is like a prison for those under 18 though, they just call it something else? Are like mental health issues more of a problem at the juvenile one than the adult one. Glad to see that there is much more focus on rehabilitation at the juvenile facility. There is like no focus on rehab at the adult one though?

My work has them and puts the required yearly sexual harassment training on it. It is so stupid. 30-45 minutes of watching a video on basic common decency. If you cant pass the quiz at the end on the first try, you are a horrible human being.

like most of it is sexual harassment right? sad.

Did them at burger King. The prison and now the juvenile detention center I work.

The latter 2 was 90% cyber security training which I hated it at the prison cause most of us didn't even have access to anything on a computer outside our fucking training and our paystubs.

At the detention center though I got access to a lot more so the cyber security shit seems more relevant. In fact already have had two suspicious emails and I ain't even been there 2 months. Makes me wonder if it's someone testing me or it's a legit phishing attempt

are there like 2 users on this board that work at a detention center prison, or was it just you? one guy at a medium security prison or something, then you now switched to a juvenile detention center...? unsure

I had a full time job once, and I hated it. I just can't handle being on my feet working that long. It was in a place where they made various things out of plastic. I had to manage this huge machine and keep it filled with plastic pellets and then it spat out finished products that I had to check for defects, and box up. And it was just constant running back and forth for like 8 hours. I only lasted a few months

But also, I'm on social security for a disability, and it makes more sense to only have part time. If I make too much, I lose my benefits. And unless I made a TON, it just isn't worth it.

I've mostly only ever had part time jobs. Some retail but also other things like stocking grocery shelves late at night, or being a dishwasher at a pizza restaurant. Never anything glamorous

Yes, although I work for a utility company rather than retail. They're mostly around health and safety, ethics and properly protecting personal data. I don't mind the safety ones tbh, people have suffered life changing injuries that were avoidable if they'd just acted more intelligently.

utility company , so you are out in the field going to people's houses? idk easier just have a person show you. They are like getting much bigger, learning modules, not less in importance at most places....

not sure on the whole state, but in Anchorage where I live, we have multiple Costcos and Walmarts. Anchorage is the "big city " of Alaska. Though its not really that big. Just that every other town is smaller.

but you like work at walmart or retail ? you said you have never made much in hourly, in your work. I did a lot of retail.

Yea, something like that. I struggle to keep any job cause of my issues. But yea, I've never had a good paying one. I think the most I've ever made in a job was maybe a few dollars above minimum wage

Constantly absent due to work and alcoholism. When he was around the only part of parenting he seemed to enjoy was yelling. Had and probably still have an anger towards him for it which made me exaggerate how bad he was at times. Though I guess part of that was how even when he did something nice he could be really miserable in the way he acted at least part of the time.

supposedly they sell a huge huge number more of mother's day cards than father's day cards. And mother's day is much bigger. Maybe that would tell you a lot.

No money, probably will poor the rest of my life. Also I find it hard to travel now anyway. Even if I like the idea in theory of seeing cool new places, traveling as a concept is tough for me. Due to all kinds of problems in my head. I just like staying home usually.

really? but a hamilton is like 500, repair it for 300? yeah a quartz tag is like 1500. Way overpriced , a quartz in the tag, not even a great quartz. Many think tags are overrated and overpriced. What watches do you think give best bang for the buck, most overpriced?

Fashion watches, yeah a service is about the price of a new one. Swiss watches however are more economic than not to repair past a few hundred pounds, at least outside of catastrophic damage like water ingress.

On their website the metal bracelet is adding another 100 dollars to the price, though honestly I'm debating doing that. That way I can just buy a leather strap later and have both. And I'm not really a fan of the day/date version, if we're talking about the same one where the day/date is displayed at 12 o'clock.

What's the cheapest you are seeing this now? Supposedly watch prices are up across the board. How do you feel about repairing broken watches? Aren't many times watches are like tvs? Cheaper, buy a whole new one?

We had 3 people including myself and we were all similarly capable at repairs, although they often left dial feature repairs (reattaching hands, hour markers etc) to me. People didn't like doing them and I have a pretty steady hand + experience doing very similar things with model kits.

FWIW I'd be cautious of anywhere that serviced watches on site if they don't have an appropriately clean room. That's the sort of work where dust or dirt really will cause problems.

Like regular people? Its one of the few all-inclusive and somewhat luxurious vacations a person of middle class status can afford these days. I actually have 2 cruises booked this year.

Some people like to wait on the top deck right before the ship leaves port so they can watch for "Pier Runners" as they are called. Then they film them and put them on TikTok or whatever so other people can shame them.

Had that happen once during a bus trip.

It was in Ireland, and a bus trip from Dublin to the cliffs of Moher. There is basically nothing but some tourist center and, well, pretty cliffs.

When it was time to return, a couple was simply gone. Big search, public announcment on the whole area, no clue.

After like an hour, we had to leave without them, and the police was still searching for them with helicopter and stuff.

On the way back, our bus driver did a quick stop, to tell us that they found them.

They were chillin in the cafe the whole time. They just ignored all the announcments because they didn't expect it to be actually about them.

But you went back for them?

Yes you can get excursions through the cruise line itself. They often have a representative come with. If it's delayed they have radios to tell the ship. We almost got delayed when a bamboo tree fell in front of a tour bus in a Puerto Rican rain forest.

Source: just did a two week cruise this past end of January

No, you are told when to come back. Excursions from the ship, if delayed, the ship will wait for them. If you decide to charter a private tour and it comes back late, too bad for you.

Have done night shift since I was 17 (43 now).
Would start the jobs on day shift and then when a spot opened up I'd switch to night shift.

Did nights at Circle K, Sweet Bay/Food Lion Warehouse, Arizona Juice Warehouse and Walls-Mart (ran electrics for 4 years).

Definitely prefer night where everything is more lax.

do you sleep during most of the day? kinda harder to get stuff done during the day?

I work at a King Soopers (Kroger)... And not all customers are bad, but the bad ones spoil it for everyone... Also sometimes it's just the sheer amount of customers that make things annoying...

they call them scoopers in calif right? many of the overnights are mostly in retail? unsure
