I haven't read any of his works, but his novels Satantango and The Melancholy of Resistance were adapted into films by himself for director Bla Tarr, and they're among the best movies ever made. He also wrote three original screenplays, and an adaptation of a Georges Simenon novel, for the same director.

The Founding Fathers had the benefit of not having social media to reveal to the entire population everything they said and did, they just relied on print and word of mouth, both of which were very primitive but easily manipulated. And they were mythologized over time, more importantly. What you're looking at is not an aberration, it is the character of the American political aristocracy on full display.

I don't think intelligent people are interested in AI 'art' as anything other than a novelty.

Any AI media products are always just going to be slop for idiots.

The problem is that A.) enough people aren't 'intelligent' in that way, and B.) most people are social animals who consume shit as part of social interaction, hence the stuff spreading around. You either have to be a little mix of both to be properly repulsed by the stuff.

My thing is, even if they "release the files", aren't they going to be redacted and/or edited to pieces? Especially given that they had the FBI combing over all them for weeks/months for references to Trump.

If they do release them nothing will happen. Maybe a few small potatoes bozos will be sacrificed. Trump and co. will get away with it, and if you have something to say about it, the police will brutalize you and maybe deport you, and use your likeness in a racist AI video.

A lot of the most popular anime and manga are deeply political and not even in a way where it is open to interpretation. One Piece is inspiring anti-government protests, Bleachs last arc is explicitly about how the Nazis co-opted historical cultural symbols, and Naruto is a cackhanded but well-meaning anti-war message. Which is not even getting into Attack on Titan being an allegory for twentieth century warfare so blatant it is barely even allegorical.

Certain swathes of the modern anime fandom is in a constant state of denial or ignorance over the fact that their art form was built by radical Marxists, feminists and (especially) environmentalists in the 70s, 60s and earlier, who liked reading (and adapting) western literature and comics - classical and modern - and that it is, furthermore, arguably in a state of steep creative decline due to the industry becoming increasingly commercial and insular, and decreasingly literate. And that the same thing is arguably happening to American media, but failing anime is more appealing than failing...whatever, so they keep buying the body pillows.
