That has always been common. People go upstairs and then are never heard from again. My favorite was when Married... with Children did this with the kid Seven but then later on they had his picture on a milk carton implying he was missing. Haha. That was great. Yeah this is what happened on Happy Days with Richie Cunningham's older brother Chuck. If someone were to be caught with one, depending on who the teacher was they'd either get it taken from them or be told to put it up.

These "free speech" people never seem to grasp that free speech does not mean free from consequences. I guarantee the majority of those that like to rant and rave about "free speech" only actually believe in it when either they're the ones talking or if somebody else is saying something that they agree with. For instance, if they say something controversial, then they'll go on about "free speech." Then wait for a sale. Interesting thing is, back then, games that could be completed within 2 to 5 hours costed about $40-50. They only felt longer because we kept dying and at the time it was pretty rare for games to have a save feature. Instead many of them had limited continues and when we didn't have any more continues after losing our last life, it was back to the beginning. Hell some games didn't even have continues. As a matter of fact, I've read that some developers deliberately made games difficult so that kids wouldn't be able to just simply rent it and beat it over the weekend. Honestly the idea of splitting a game in two and then making it to where they can combine is so fascinating to me It actually wasn't initially planned to be split in two. Sonic 3 & Knuckles was how Sega originally intended to release Sonic 3 on a single cartridge. That's what mine ended up being. It scared me into getting the colonoscopy though This is what convinced me into getting a colonoscopy a couple years ago. Seeing so much blood both on the stool and on the toilet paper scared the shit(no pun intended) out of me. Thankfully all that was found were two small polyps(which were removed) and hemorrhoids. From what I've been reading, when young adults see blood in their stool, they assume it's just hemorrhoids because they think they're too young to get colon cancer. And if they do go see a doctor, that doctor will also assume it's just hemorrhoids without doing any testing because that person's too young. And then years later, that person ends up diagnosed with either stage 3 or 4 colon cancer. Nickelodeon couldn't afford if kids won the grand prizes all the time so the temple run was rigged Yeah there were 120 episodes and just barely over 30 teams won the grand prize. Though one of those wins was due to a production error and ended up being the quickest win. Usually when a team had one pendant, they would make so that multiple doors would open when a room's objective was cleared, so that the players would have a fair shot to at least reach the artifact as they'd have more paths to choose from and so that it would possible to avoid at least one of the temple guards. They're all from the 90's with the exception of Caitlin's Way (2000) and The Tomorrow People which looks like it came out in the 70's but also aired in the 90's. There were actually more than one Tomorrow People series. There was one that was made in the 70s(which is the one you're probably referring to). If I'm replaying a game (whether it's the same mode or New Game+ if the game has it), I try to do things a bit different than I did before. For instance, for my regular playthrough on Batman Arkham Knight, I would do the side missions when they became available.
