I get that people want to be vocal about this issue, especially when it comes to countering Republicans controlling the narrative. But considering the cascade of fuckups and faceplants already present - the ironic nature of Kirk's assassination, Patel's bungling FBI, the current facts pointing to a high likelihood of this being right on right violence - I feel like making a public trollpost over Kirk's death serves little more than violating the principle of "never interrupt your enemy when they're making a mistake."

Nice. Finally got around to playing the first a few months back and I loved it. One of the few games I've played in forever that I genuinely found addictive as hell:

"Ah, fuck, I died...oh well, might as well check in with everyone, see what the Broker's got, see what I can unlock, get started and see what my first boon is...eh, no harm in playing through a few rooms in Tartarus...*keeps playing until I make it through or die to Theseus or Hades*...alrighty, might as well check in with everyone, see what the Broker's got, see what my first boon is..."

*lather, rinse, repeat until it's 3 in the morning on a work night*

If it helps, I think it's confirmed that all the things you could steal from foes in the original is steal-able again.

That's definitely encouraging, thanks! I wouldn't mind not being able to steal the gear if you could get it elsewhere, but iirc the WotL version gated the Masamune + all or some of the Genji Armor behind some multiplayer bullshit. You could probably still get extra Masamunes the old fashioned way by catching them from ninjas in the Deep Dungeon, but it's rare that I can be arsed to put in that effort.

Probably. The Tactics series is perfect for handhelds and I'm pretty much over the PSP version at this point.

Incidentally, what might make or break the purchase is whether or not the Ivalice Chronicles version lets you steal the Masamune + full suit of Genji Armor from Elmdore, something that the WotL version ruined for some reason. If the IC version rolls the gameplay back to vanilla as advertised yet for some reason keeps that one odious change, I might not buy the game out of spite.

New Vegas - combat in Old World Blues: enemies are ridiculously spongey, oftentimes spawn right next to you with no warning, and it's practically a given that you won't bring enough ammo into the DLC, so it always devolves into mindlessly mashing melee / unarmed until the thing finally dies.

Timed parries are the bane of my gaming existence, and thusly forced me to quit both Cuphead on King Dice and Metroid Dread on the final boss. Metroid Dread was especially shitty because I'd gotten 100% item completion, which ultimately means fuck all if I can't beat the final boss (incidentally I despise any game mechanic where there's a timed parry / QTE / something similar is required, and if you fail this split-second action the boss magically gets all their health / energy back and you have to do the whole thing again).

It's gotten two thus far, which fixed a handful of news issues introduced in Remaster version. Still no fix for broken reanimation animations or the Necromancer's Amulet missing from the nightstand; feels like the move-drag physics got improved slightly, but they'll still wonky as fuck and shelves are virtually impossible to decorate.

Bethesda had that channel on their Discord where people were encouraged to suggest improvements for the game, but whether or not anything will come of that is anyone's guess. I haven't been on Discord in awhile so I haven't heard any news or decent rumors.

If you loved it back in the day, haven't played it in over a decade, and are itching to try it again, I'd give it a spin.

Graphically its mostly big steps forward with a couple steps back. Things like architecture textures and Oblivion Gates got a major glow-up, while the forest landscapes took a bit of a hit; the individual models are excellent, but the duller weather effects and lack of tall grass too often make the Great Forest feel like a scattering of tree models plopped onto a featureless brown-grey landscape as opposed to a vibrant, living place (though there are occasionally moments where the landscape looks drop-dead gorgeous).

Leveling is the biggest improvement. You get a flat amount of attribute points per level up, so gone are the days of grinding skills and counter-intuitively avoiding your majors for max attribute bonuses. Skills that were a nightmare to level in OG have been overhauled for the better: Magic schools and Mercantile now level based on casting cost / item value, which speeds things along considerably.

Combat's mostly the same, with some slight improvements. The most welcome improvement is that enemies are no longer damage sponges, which means archery doesn't become completely useless from the midgame onward. The ridiculous amount of staggering that enemies inflicted on the player has also been cleaned up (I'd just recently played the OG and lordy did that drive me nuts). Weapon classes have new animations and unique skills, which is a mixed bag.

Ultimately, you'll probably walk away with the same impression most people did: you'll love the things you used to love, hate the bugs that still haven't been fixed, be briefly reminded of all the boring shit you'd forgotten before you forget about it again, realize that the memes Mandela Effect'd you over Sheogorath's obsession with cheese that doesn't actually exist, and admit to yourself that maybe you'd been a wee bit too hard on Skyrim.

Try buidling one of the Modular Buildings or any similar Expert-level set and let me know if you still feel that way.

Yeah the land exploration is completely broken in TotK with the use of any flying contraption (even if you don't use the hoverbike); which is honestly fine, because you've already explored Hyrule proper in the first game. But still, that was a disappointing sensation to realize that I was just combing TotK's regular map out of obligation rather than genuine discovery (and the sky and underground wore thin too quickly to really make up for this).

I was wondering whether or not this was their first $1,000 set; I just started getting Legos again a few years ago and missed most of the 00's and 10's sets.

Anyway, yeah, people have been bitching about the price of Legos for as long as I've been alive, so that's basically white noise at this point. However, SW Legos do have some pretty egregious markups even compared to other licensed sets - I think the recent Yavin base set was the worst offender in terms of pricetag v. brick count - and this isn't much of an exception. SW sets have also caught a lot of flak lately for being...uninspired, to put it politely (to put in rudely, they're basic-ass gray backdrops with a couple exclusive minifigs for 50 bucks a pop).

So yeah, I've pretty much sworn off SW sets since I got back into Lego. The last one I had my eye on was the Mos Eisley Cantina, but the wave of price hikes a couple years ago killed my interest in that one.

In FF7 I didn't stumble upon the Cursed Ring in Mideel until I was about six playthroughs in. At that time I was still way deep in my delusions that there had to be some secret way to revive Aeris (I blame SotN for putting it in my head that all games should have a massive payoff to following an esoteric breadcrumb trail on-par with the Reverse Castle), and this felt like the biggest FF7 secret I'd ever personally stumbled across.

Speaking of OG FF7, you probably already know that all party members have a unique reaction / animation to Aeris' death right after the Jenova fight, based on who's in your active party at the time. I'd probably gotten a dozen playthroughs under my belt before I decided to have Yuffie in the party. That sequence has always made me tear up a little, but seeing Yuffie's reaction for the first time was the closest I ever came to flat-out bawling.

In Chrono Trigger when the party gets imprisoned on the Blackbird, all party members have unique dialogue reaction to finding out their supplies have been taken; on my first playthough I remember finding Frog's reaction particularly funny ("Confound it! The money too!"), and for the longest time I couldn't figure out how to re-trigger it. Turns out whoever's the party leader will comment last on the missing money (can't remember which slot comments on the consumables and which slot comments on weapons / armor).
