Plus these were the days where licensed games were actually well made and among the best games on the console, was just playing Aladdin a little while ago and it's a masterpiece. --- |

| EffectAndCause 06/18/17 7:34:39 AM #1 | My most played video game console lately by far has been my Sega Genesis. I don't know if having a full time job, dogs and a girlfriend has made me a filthy casual, but I feel like modern games are so massive and such a huge timesink that in order to give it an honest play session I need to set aside a big chunk of hours or it won't feel like i've made any progress. For example I bought The Witcher III and though I know it's an amazing game from what i've played so far, I haven't touched it in months because it feels like I only have time to complete such an overall miniscule task that I don't really get the thrill of making progress from it so i'm not as motivated to play. Where on the Sega Genesis, I can sit down and beat Shinobi III start to finish in like an hour and get the thrill of progressing through the entire game and the satisfaction of beating the game in one sitting. Also since games in those days barely used or required save files, the whole thing feels really consequence free since nothing I do will forever impact my game or save file since pretty much every game is "pick up and play". Another appeal is that because they're all 2D games, none of it feels dated to me since I only expect so much from a 2D game, where a bad looking 3D game still sticks out like a sore thumb, so these games will have eternal life for me. TLDR: I'm a filthy casual because adulting. --- |
