Basically, somehow the expectation has been set that I would help out another team if they fall behind. It was never in my original job description, and it doesn't fit my role at all. Now it's reached the point that the other team will blame me if they miss deadlines.

Before telling me I should help them out a few months back, my boss prefaced the conversation by saying he doesn't like it when people doesn't want to do work outside of their role. But goddamn it, it's not my job. I don't mind helping out, but I shouldn't get in trouble for it if I don't.

If this man refused it's called asking someone else, making the deal to give up the seat better, and giving the passengers fair treatment.

$800 is nothing, and the people on that plane knew that, the offer needs to be better then that.

You can pretend like what they did was acceptable but I wonder how you would feel if you got dragged off that plane like that man.

They offered $800 and no one took it. Then they did the only fair thing, and did random selection. They asked him politely to leave. He acted like a jerk about it, told police officers to drag him away and put him in jail, and then is surprised that said police officers did what he told them to do after they warned him repeatedly.

What do you expect the airline to do? Delay 2 flights (they had to send crew members to another site) because of one unruly passenger? Yes, it sucks, but apparently, all these righteous people on that flight couldn't be bothered to give up their seats either.

Are you implying they should have assaulted police officers? I mean what kind of help are you talking about?

I mean the people should have tried to stop them from dragging him like an animal off the plane even if that means assualting cops to help your fellow man from that kind of treatment.

The cops treated him like garbage, yet no one yelled at the cops to stop dragging him like that, to stop, or even that what they are doing is wrong.

I would not be able to look at myself in the mirror the next day if I was on that plane and did nothing, even if thrown in jail I would atleast try to help that man.

The man acted like a child and was dragged off like one. He could've stood up at anytime, but instead chose to be a baby the entire time.
