Some are especially alarming. "In an interview with the Associated Press April 21, Trump admitted that when he originally said NATO was "obsolete" during the campaign, he made the claim "not knowing much about NATO, now I know a lot about NATO." " Well, I'm glad that Trump was able to reverse his decision on this, but it would be nice if he'd looked into the requirements and circumstances of politics and the Presidency before his inauguration? It's almost like he didn't take it seriously!

Why wouldn't the number be 43? How would voter ID not catch all the non-citizens and impersonators?

I think the answer is that the one person voter ID is expected to have caught is the one impersonator who did so in person (the other voted by mail). The non-citizens had state IDs and/or driver's licenses, judging from the form letter in the appendix, they just weren't citizens.

Speaking of North Carolina!

"On Friday, the State Board of Elections released the results of an extensive, objective audit of the 2016 election. It found that 4,769,640 votes were cast in November and that one (1) would probably have been avoided with a voter ID law." They found a total of 508 illegitimate votes: 441 were felons (can't vote in NC even while on probation/parole), 41 were non-citizens, 24 were double votes, 2 were impersonation.

Suppose that, 200 years from now, the future condemns Americans of the 2010s for running amok with automation and thus setting the groundwork for the robot apocalypse. Is that unfair to us, because we didn't know how bad the robot apocalypse would be? Perhaps. But you know what? We won't care, because we'll be dead. Their decision to rebel could be understandable, even reasonable - but not moral, and not just.

If you think it's wrong to judge people two hundred years ago by modern standards, then we are not going to be able to reach middle ground. I think that we should understand that things 200 years ago were different, in many ways, and that we need to remember this when we judge the people who were alive 200 years ago. And if they did something that was wrong, because they thought it was right, then we should consider their incomplete information, their mistaken beliefs, as mitigating circumstances when we judge them; a thorough analysis ought to include and account for this information. What it should not do is pretend that if something wrong seems right, feels right, then that makes it right.

Easy to say 150 years later. I am sure if someone told your ancestors they are planning to take your economic feasibility away to feed your family or such at the time in a first domino of possible oppression, your ancestors would have rebelled also.

Yes, that's entirely possible. And, if their economic feasibility depended on owning human slaves, then they would have been wrong to fight and kill in order to preserve slavery! Their decision to rebel could be understandable, even reasonable - but not moral, and not just.

MalcolmMasher

Spent 50 mithril on Banner 4, and got one relic. But it was Deployment Tactics, which allowed me to (after several failures) manage a stall clear of Nemesis!

Relm (Cura/Guts BSB, Lionheart RM)
Alphinaud (Radiant Shield SSB, Mako Might RM)
Tyro (Wall SB, Pro/Shell/MagicBlink BSB, Dr Mog RM)
Lenna (Cura/Reraise BSB, Doublecast White RM)
Minwu (Haste/Regen BSB, CT0 Curaga SSB, Knight's Charge RM)
RW: Edge CT0 Haste-Blink-Guts

The basic strategy should be fairly clear: use Radiant Shield and spam healing. You do also need some source of damage (I had Minus Strike on Tyro and not-entirely-negligible entry damage from Relm's holy/non BSB) because at the start of Phase 2, Nemesis hits you with Doom. I actually didn't have enough damage to win the fight before the Doom timer ran out, but I did have Reraise, such that when Alphinaud and Minwu died during phase 3 I was able to get them back in fighting condition (which, by that point in the fight, is "unit has Radiant Shield and Guts active"). I do not have much respect for FFRK Reraise, but the moments when it actually does contribute are all the more glorious for that. Heck, if I'd remembered to use Tyro's -Atk/Mag burst command, I'd have mastered.

Special cheese tip: You know how in Orbfest, when you kill one enemy and it drops an Orb, no one can act until the Orb disappears from the battlefield, even though ATB meters keep filling? Apparently, the same kind of situation happens when FFRK is waiting to register an activation of Guts or Radiant Shield (or, apparently, Reraise). So keep the battle speed on 1 normally, and then crank it to 5 when Nemesis triggers one of your special statuses. https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKeeper/comments/61usce/struggle_against_back_to_back_99999_canon_use_atb/

Here they all are, literally all of them. If I need any abilities, or level of abilities, I can absolutely do it, I am up to my ears in orbs...

Well, given what worked for me, I'd suggest Relm / Alphinaud / Tyro / Ashe / Minwu. Tyro gets Wrath/Entrust, Ashe gets Curaga/Haste, Alphinaud gets a healing spell and Faith, and Relm and Minwu both take a healing spell and Protectga or Shellga. I had Lenna, which meant an extra healing burst and Reraise for emergencies; you have Ashe's BSB/OSB combo, which means you have a damage source that is not Radiant Shield. Once Ashe's near three full bars, have Alphinaud Faith her, and then she can do BSB, OSB, OSB, receive entrusted SB from Tyro, and hopefully two more OSBs. (Even though Nemesis resists lightning, it should be worth setting up with the BSB, as long as you can rely on getting at least three SBs off and are not set back statwise by equipping Durandal and Ashe's Defiance.)

If Trump keeps interfering, absolutely. It's not that he was guaranteed to win before. It's that the only thing that could GUARANTEE he loses is pissing off the US such that they decide to make him the next Saddam/Kaddafi.

Which means it's a good idea for Assad to figure out how far he can go before he pisses off the new administration of the U.S.

for the record Shura is probably my favorite character by a pretty huge margin. I'd be interested to see how much his role in the story changes on the other route. also if I could get him earlier on.

Good news: you get Shura significantly earlier on the other two routes. Bad news: Birthright is his best route for plot. Though Conquest Shura does have a boss conversation that you shouldn't miss (first chapter you can deploy him in.)

This is pretty big and pretty key to get right, is it not?

Absolutely. It's also a long shot. If Trump wants to get involved in Syria, he doesn't need an excuse. If someone wants to provoke Trump into getting involved in Syria, they've got no reason to think that a faked chemical attack is the thing that would do it.

The notion that Assad made a strike on rebels who had chemical weapons and set them off, now... I wouldn't expect the rebels to have access to a great deal of chemical weaponry. But then, I really don't know much about the Syrian conflict; perhaps they captured some of Assad's in the early parts of the war. Or perhaps it's easier to synthesize military-grade chemical weapons than I would like to think. It's certainly more plausible than a false flag operation.

Which seems quite plausible and makes a LOT more sense then "Assad does the one thing that is pretty much guaranteed to ensure he loses in order to kill a few dozen random civilians" does.

You think Assad's going to lose, now? I wish I was that optimistic.

New President, new administration. New rules? Who knows? Trump condemned the idea of getting involved in Syria, and if he has any sympathy for Syrian refugees, it doesn't extend to giving them shelter. If Trump's response to being notified of a chemical attack in Syria were "Not my problem", I think a lot of Americans would be disappointed, and a lot of them would be relieved, but very few of them would be surprised. So for Assad to test the waters with a quick war crime, just to see whether or not anyone important cares now, does not strike me as an act of insanity.

Has Trump made any claims to fact-check? I mean, I don't think anyone is disputing that he ordered a missile strike on a Syrian air base. The only point of contention I can think of is whether the alleged use of chemical weapons was actually Assad using chemical weapons or, e.g., a false flag operation.

On Conquest, Paralogues shared with Birthright are generally way easier than the main story or than Conquest's own set of Paralogues, 'cause Conquest is designed to be challenging and Birthright, well, isn't.

As an example, if I watch a bunch of alt-right videos, and a bunch of video game videos, then Google knows I'm interested in right-wing politics and videogames. If it shows me an ad for Andromeda before a Cantwell video, this does not harm EA in any way, because Cantwell is someone I like. Even if he's a pariah to 99% of the rest of society, they aren't the ones viewing the ad, I am.

I think you're overlooking two possibilities. The first is that EA genuinely disapproves of Cantwell, and wishes to discourage people from giving him a platform by withdrawing their indirect financial incentive. (This may well be an old-fashioned concept that is ineffective in the information age, in which case we might expect it to happen less and less often as companies catch on.) The second is that EA doesn't care about Cantwell, but wants to earn the support of the hypothetical majority that view him as a pariah; I believe you refer to this as "virtue signalling".

The USA has the world's largest navy, with more full aircraft carriers than the rest of the world combined. We have the world's largest air force. We ALSO have the world's SECOND largest air force (Navy aviators don't like being lumped in with Air Force pilots.) I think we've technically only got the second largest army, but given that the only nations which actually border us are Canada and Mexico, I'm not feeling too worried about a land invasion.

The only thing that can seriously threaten us is a nuclear attack, from someone who doesn't care about the fact that they're dooming their homeland (if not their planet) by making one. And if we're trying to counter nuclear weapons, we'd be better off spending money on diplomacy, espionage, and maybe even space travel than on the military.

They now need to take additional time out of their day (possibly losing work hours, etc, or needing to pay fees in order to requisition documents that they do not have on hand) in order to obtain ID cards to prove their status to my satisfaction, even though they are actually American citizens. This does not actually -prevent- them from voting, but it makes the process more tedious - as it would be to sue the government over unjustly putting you on a no gun buy list.

I was there when it happened. I saw him on his shady email," she allegedly texted. "They don't write emails. They log on and write in the drafts So it's never transmitted over any servers."

I'ma be honest: that's a neat trick. I'm sure there's some kind of flaw in it (heck, maybe it doesn't even work, since the information has to be relayed somehow in order to be available on two different computers) but it's cunning.

I am pleasantly surprised that Jon Huntsman may once more achieve relevance, although appointing someone who doesn't speak Russian as the Russian ambassador is a bit odd. Possibly Trump's team had to veto a few more Russia-savvy picks because they're worried appointing someone with (say) Russian business connections would give Trump's critics an easy opening?

So the gimmick of Apocalypse Sephy is that although he has a very strong MT magical attack in Meteor, he will only use it on his fourth turn after being hit below 20% HP, and (if the fight hasn't ended, one way or the other) every sixth turn after that. If you have some potent SBs saved up to rush through that period (or if you have a party-wide Magic Blink effect) then you can get away with no magical mitigation whatsoever.

I was fairly close to beating the Mandragoras Cid Mission with Cid Raines RW, but the last veggie beat Ashe in the damage race. In response I have gotten her MC3 out of the Hall and brought her up to level 90. Still, if I find myself in the same situation again, I think I may just sit and wait for the last Mandragora's Haste/Protect/Shell to wear off before knocking him below 50%.

The last was the Prince in the top left, by the way, and I expect he'll be last again. Bottom right is weak to dark (and a priority target anyhow, able to throw out MT physicals even above half health.) Bottom left is weak to water, and the other priority target, for the same reason. Left side is weak to Holy, so Raines troubles him too. That leaves top right (earth, Basch carries Gaia Cross for Drawtaliate) and top left (fire).

Although if anyone has an Edgar OSB and is willing to equip Edgar for FF12 synergy, I don't doubt that two shots of cap-breaking MT damage are just what is needed to make this battle go smoothly.
