In fact, right before the most recent season finale, they renewed your show for another season and brought back all the actors, including one for a popular character that you had killed off. They then give you a choice: come up with a new story arc to keep things going yourself, or they will replace you with someone who will. Of course, regardless of your choice, the studio will retain all rights to the world you spend years developing and will have overall creative control over the story.
