The last game I beat was probably a replay of DS3.

I'm "currently" playing Persona 5, but football camp started so I can't continue at the moment. It's really annoying though because I got all the way to the Second Safe room of the final metaverse dungeon.

On the bright side by the time I can play again everything will feel kinda fresh for NG+.

TopicWhy are social issues such a big deal in gaming?
123pizza2
08/05/17 11:04:49 PM
#6
In my opinion(strong emphasis on my opinion) it emerges from the simple fact that gamers are naturally more inclined to be active on the internet.

Since anyone can play a videogame, it is inevitable that overtly sensitive people will end up playing a game that offends them for one reason or another. They share their complaints online, which attracts the attention of social issue advocates who don't game regularly. Since the bar for entry in gaming is very low, even people lacking skill or imagination can easily access the games themselves, or even simply watch game clips that highlight the "offensive" parts.

The joy of playing Dark Souls games isn't from ramming your head into a wall. It's from ramming your head into a wall enough times that you finally break through.

And then once you git gud you can just constantly run through all the walls at full speed. I still remember my first go at nameless, friede, and gael. Hoo boy did I get rekt. Now they're pretty much cake walk.

I don't people are saying that with an explicit game in mind. The question is about extremes, so people are simply stating what they would prefer if they had no other options.

If it's challenging in terms of mechanics, level design, or skill level, than I definitely enjoy challenging games. I don't mind dying and/or restarting if I can acknowledge that better and more particular play could have changed the outcome.

However, lots of games increase the difficulty by inflating the damage and health of enemies to a large degree. Damage Sponges aren't fun, they're just annoying.

Since we're talking extremes though, probably too easy. I'd prefer to blitz through multiple games rather than smash my head against one.

To answer your question, no. There's no repercussions for not playing every day.

I meant it in the same sense as a couple others did; you'll end up playing the game for hours and not realize how much time has gone by.

The "just one more day and then I'll stop" mentality is very strong in this game.

I'm a huge fan of fire emblem; it's my favourite game series of all time. I think the Radiance duology (9 & 10) are the best of the lot, but that's just personal bias. It'll also be somewhat inconvienent to play them if you dont already own them.

For someone with minimal experience with FE, i would recommend FE8:Sacred Stones, or FE13:Awakening. They're quite forgiving for newer players, although you might find awakening to be very simple once you get the hang of things. Contrary to a lot of people, I think FE14:Fates is great, but there are certainly better entry points to the series

Also, keep in mind that like any popular game, there are tons of elitists out there who decry each new game (and they have been doing so since the first U.S. release, FE7. Don't get caught up in the negative talk (except for fe11, the shadow dragon remake, that's legititmately terrible.)

I say it all the time but probably Operation Darkness.

I enjoyed it and thought the story was interesting to perfect enough but it was a mechanical mess. The combat pretty much relied on an autorecovery skill that would eat a health item whenever a character died. Weight and speed were so important that you were often better off giving characters swords to run around with, and the difficulty curve jumped all over the place.

It's a poor man's Valkyria Chronicles. I loved it, but it's the most jank game I played.

Hour of Victory is actually the worst but I purged that from my memory.
