Fixed mine a few weeks ago and it turned out that it somehow just came unplugged. Also fixed my gas lid release button. The metal connectors just had some corrosion and that was all it was. Accidents do happen unfortunately. I recall Rodger Moore saying that his stunt double was almost killed doing the train scene in Octopussy. The dude was clipped by one of the passing obstacles when hanging off the side of the train.
