I don't understand how anyone in the habit of wearing a seatbelt could forget to put it on for long. It's like if you normally wear a hat and forget to put it on, after a minute or two you will notice you aren't wearing it.

Seatbelts feel like something when they are fastened and if you aren't wearing one you should feel odd.

I'm glad this ended so late so I won't have to hear this **** from dumb customers when I go into work tomorrow.

Context being I work at a local paper in a red county in a red state, where the editor is liberal. ANY time something even remotely major happens on the political landscape, I (as a lowly front desk person) am always the first to hear about how biased the editor is and how we need more reporters that will support trump. But since it ended so late, it didn't make it in the paper tonight so it'll be in saturday's. Then when I come in on monday hopefully this will have blown over!

I thought the Beast's new song was pretty great. The only cgi that really bothered me was the horrible digital matte painting they used as a backdrop for "Belle." The movie could have benefited greatly from more on location shoots in general, but that was especially bad.

This is wrong. There's some overlap, but the group of people who the individual mandate incentivizes to buy insurance are the people who don't think buying insurance is worth it to them. For some of them it's because, as you say, they can't afford it (though this is minimized by Medicaid expansion, which the authors of the ACA assumed would happen in all 50 states, and subsidies, which could probably stand to be increased), but it also includes healthy people who can afford it but don't think they'll make much use of it. If these people don't buy in, insurers will be forced to make their plans prohibitively expensive for those who really do need them, since their expected cost per person goes up due to the sicker pool.

I don't really know what to tell you if your complaint is that healthy people end up subsidizing sick people besides "yeah, that's how health insurance is supposed to work"

But Medicaid wasn't expanded in all 50 states, and the current subsidies are crap, so this is basically a moot point.

I'm aware of its low budget, too, yeah. And it definitely showed IMO. I can appreciate that it lampshaded it -- the post credits scene was good, for example -- but it still affected my enjoyment.

What specifically made you think, "damn this low budget!" as you watched it? I'm just curious cause nothing ever took me out of the film, and I wouldn't have even thought about the budget if Deadpool himself hadn't made that joke about the studio not being able to afford more X-men.

As someone who took several political science classes in college I'm kinda curious what I was supposed to have learned in there that makes me "more qualified to vote." I have a much better idea of how the government works than a random farmer dude, probably. I have an idea of what past presidents did in their terms. I don't think knowledge of checks and balances helps me lay down an educated vote.

Knowledge of how the government works and knowing what past Presidents did in their terms are both extremely useful skills to have. Knowing how past Presidents acted in their terms, and the situations of how they acted, helps you discern how a current and/or prospective President will act in the future. It's much easier to smell a rat if you've seen rats throughout history (in general, reading up on history is pretty helpful!). Learning about checks and balances helps you understand how the government works which is never a bad thing, although perhaps not quite as essential to voting.

I mean, this is true, but I feel that you can get more than enough education on these subjects by paying attention in high school history classes and personal research, at least enough to qualify as an "educated voter." Don't see college level classes being necessarry here.
