I loved 24 but agree this new season is missing the charm. I stopped watching after the episode That Tony first showed up. When I heard he was going to be in it I thought it might save the show but like said above there's no reason for that character to be Tony apart from just having a link to the old 24.

Like they could've brought back Doyle, or Burke, or Baker, or literally any other random agent from the OS if they wanted to have some insignificant side character from the original seasons doing shit.

You don't bring back one of the main characters and ignore all their previous history and development while reducing them to a very minor tertiary role.

Aside from that, yeah. It doesn't feel like 24. It has the sound effects, music, and title shit, but almost nothing about the show itself feels like 24.

Villains are boring and unoriginal

Tony Almeida is incredibly underused and it feels like the writers brought him back just to throw a bone to the old school 24 fans. Like seriously, he's said nor done nothing or has had really nothing said about him that connects him with any sort of events in the original series.

The main characters are all dull. Eric is bland, his wife sucks, Jimmy Smits is underused. The only interesting character is the Eric's brother.

The plot is fucking slow as hell



It's all in all a very underwhelming season/reboot, but the shit with Tony annoys me. If you're not going to expand his arc or at least write him well, may as well have not bothered at all.

Yet why is then nothing being done to fix it by the current President supported by two majorities in Congress?
