My dog had multiple lumps in various places - most of them just turned out to be cysts or benign growths. It's definitely possible that your dog's lump might not be a major issue, but a vet hospital will be able to do a much better job of evaluating that then your regular check-up vet. If you're concerned, you should definitely get him checked early on, because the whole process might be easier on him (and you) if you catch it early.

Better safe than sorry - you're better off taking him in only to find that it's benign than you are putting it off and having it turn out to be malignant.

the vet's office i go to is a veterinary hospital and i made an appt for him to go tomorrow after work.

From what I know no legitimate vet would offer you the option of allowing you the option to overdose your dog at home on painkillers. If you plan on keeping your pet alive, they can/do usually prescribe some form of painkiller to assist with the animals pain (obviously).

oh i don't want to overdose him at home. i want to control his pain until he passes away naturally. kind of like you do for a person. i would never want to make him overdose.

we had put a cat to sleep once and they let me stay in the room with it but idk how common that is. i'd rather not watch Ernie throw up and convulse from the meds like that cat did but if that were my only option i'd do it.

My grandparents spent tons of money on one of their dogs a long time ago trying to save it from cancer, and after the saw what it did to the dog and that it still died, they said they would never do it again and if a future dog got too sick they would just put them down if they were suffering

Damn. I guess it'll probably depend on how far the cancer would have spread if he has it. If it's just the one lump and we got it early might be worth it. If it's already spread might just be more pain for my bubby.

Ernie has a little lump on his shoulders I have to take him to the vet to check out.

I think it may just be a cyst because he's not in pain at all or acting sick and he has a cyst on his little knee already.

But if it is cancer has anyone ever gotten chemo for their dog here before? Looking for first hand experiences if possible. Even second hand.

yeah my landlord said pretty much what i thought they'd say. that i'd need to contact animal control or go on the county assessor website to see who owns the home since it's a rental and possibly talk to them if the people refuse or neglect to do anything about the dog.

i got 5 honey bbq and 5 spicy garlic

mando got some sweet sahara spice ones that were the special wings

and we got some potato wedges to share

we went to buffalo wild wings

the problem is that when i got my wings they had literally like two dabbles of sauce on them so i told the server i'm not trying to be an asshole but can i get these resauced? and she said she likes her wings really wet too so she understood. after that it was all good. they even gave me a free chicken wing to replace the dry one i had eaten.

I just left them a note that their dog has learned it can jump our shared fence and then the fence shared with the property on the other side of me and that this is concerning to me because I have a small 15 lb shih tzu. I said I'd like to discuss it with them. The note was not on their door when I got back from eating chicken wings last night so I know they received it but they did not come over when we got home nor did they leave us a note back. I'm hoping maybe we can talk to them today.

They have three dogs I saw yesterday.

I assume any dog can or could attack at any time because I see it every day at work. I handle homeowners claims for dog bites. In thinking worst case scenario you can save yourself a lot of pain and heartache when it comes to interacting with other dogs you are unfamiliar with.

so i got home from work and the dog jumped into our yard while i was home lol

it's not a pitbull (my boyfriend does not know dog breeds) but it appears to be a very friendly rottweiler mix.

a man knocked on our door because he saw the dog jump from our yard to the neighbor on the OTHER side's yard and thought it was our dog.

i left a note taped to the dog's owner's door because no one is home currently.

Realistically, she'd be idiotic to do anything other than lock the door and call the police after the "run inside" step. If the pit bull's actually attacking, Ernie's going to be dead (or at least beyond help) well before she gets back with the knife, and attacking a pit bull with a knife without really knowing what you're doing is a pretty good way to get mauled.

That wouldnt do anything. Look up vids of pitbull attacks. People stab an shoot and kick them in their BODIES which is wrong. Once they clamp down you have to use a breaker bar or metal rob to pry open jaw from the hinge or kill the dog QUICK by desanguination. Unless you are capable of getting to its heart of course, but slitting the throat is the fastest guaranteed way.

well i mean what else can you do if they don't keep control of their animal and the landlord won't replace the fence? now obviously all that is worst case scenario. i'm sure the neighbors will (hopefully) be reasonable and just leash up their dog when it's back there but if nothing gets done and the dog keeps getting over i don't see any other option than to involve the authorities somehow.

this is what i think. that's why i'm gonna talk to them first. i doubt my landlord is gonna wanna put a new fence in on the shared property line when the people could just leash up their dog.

if they refuse to leash the dog and it keeps jumping over i'm gonna call animal control and have them seize it when it's in my yard and the owners can go pick it up. the inconvenience might be enough to make them keep their animal under control.
