I knew better than to take pictures of myself naked when I was a kid, but I get that a lot of kids have absent or just plain terrible parents.

I don't see how someone thought it'd be a good idea to screw over someone for their entire life when it is already obvious that they were at a disadvantage due to having bad role models.

You can't take a morally sound stance when you aren't educated enough to understand certain subjects. I get that this is an internet message board and most of the mods are probably 20-something or under but that was pretty shocking ignorance to encounter.

Probably what he's thinking right now. He's a reservist, though, which is not the same as being active duty. Apparently it's pretty rare for National Guard Reserves to be deployed, but two major storms close together like this might be changing that.

We do. The reserve component of the guard are called traditional guardsmen, there are active guard members... Someone has to maintain the bases and equipment for the other ~28 days there isn't drill.

Anyway, guard deployment depends on your job. My unit goes out a couple times every year since we are Aeromedical Evacuation.

Here's the thing, though - he's dealing with multiple medical professionals who are explaining what the law is. And I can say this as a professional myself - every competent professional is very familiar with the laws that govern their profession

All my friends are RNs and physicians and the video super-triggered all of them. There is a good working relationship between medical professionals and law enforcement in my community, if a cop tried to pull this where I live the charge nurse would have called the sheriff and his career would have been over within 24 hours... of course it would never happen where I live in the first place.

The dude was apparently ignorant of the constitutional rights of citizens as well as the law in his state. At the very least he needs to be severely reprimanded and put through extensive retraining, but seeing as how senior of a detective he is that may be too lenient in this case.

I already prefaced the statement.

Parents treat school like a babysitting service. The AP and IB programs exist; sign your kids up for the serious classes taught by the good teachers if you want them to be scholarly - this is common sense among educated people, the other kids can cruise through and fill the gap of society after high school.

Not to be a phallus but like it is always said, we don't need everyone to be a scientist, mathematician or engineer. The system seems to be working fine for now, there are 50 universities for scholarship and hundreds of community college for the same as well as trade skills.

As you get older you will find most people talking to be exhausting. Nearly everything that someone under 30 says will be annoying to you because it is something you will have heard thousands of times in your life by that point.

You also begin to go on auto pilot for a lot of tasks and as a result you perceive the passage of time differently. It is very strange.

That is sad.

Say what you want about California but I feel that we are doing public education right. It is just that so many people feel that teachers are supposed to handling all aspects of raising their children that messes things up, also you only get out of the system what you put into it - it is really easy to sleep our way through school, just don't be mad when you've graduated and realize you didn't learn anything. It is up to the parents to make sure the school is being utilized correctly, but so many are poorly educated themselves so it doesn't work out too well.

Still, pay 1% more sales tax than other states and I get to go to college practically for free? Yes, please.

My highschool had ~930 kids, and even we mostly had 2 to a locker.

Ha, my graduating class had over a thousand.

There were only like 100 lockers in any case. When we do announce operations it is for propaganda purposes in the region - to demoralize enemies or to give non-combatants a chance to evacuate.

I went to detention once because I didn't want to lift my shirt to show the vice principal my waistband, it was when sagging was really big in the 90s.

Corporations are greedy pigs who don't police themselves but the people who would be regulating that industry are nowhere near experts on it and will muck it up.

I think legislators for the most part realize this and that is why the status quo is maintained. People have to decide whether they want to let this stand so I agree with the capitalism solution, especially now that millions of people can organize boycotts from their bedroom.

It is a tough argument to make as it is a corporation that is heavily subsidized by tax money in an industry that is heavily subsidized by tax money.

I'm not a student of history so I'd have to go with Truman, from everything I have read he seemed to have been a manbaby who was placed in his position as a puppet and was tricked into doing things by people who had intimate knowledge of his relationship with his father.
