During any part of the partial eclipse? Not so much. You can still do considerable damage to your eyes by looking at the sun during a partial eclipse. Given the circumstances and the hype behind this eclipse, the warnings are quite well placed.

Definitely true, you shouldn't stare at it directly without a filter. There is some urban legend that looking at the sun during an eclipse is actually more damaging, which I've never really understood.

The shadows from the moon blocking part of the sun makes your pupils larger, so your eyes are more exposed.

Exactly. Didn't gabbert start the first couple of preseason starts. I thought originally no one noticed and when he was actually out there people noticed.

There were also lots of talks about him being cut before hand and people speculating he was doing it to save his job.

You are absolutely right on this. He did it all preseason but it wasn't until the Saturday morning after the third preseason game last year when people suddenly cared about it.

It's quite hilarious how this stuff randomly blows up for no reason.

It was the first game he started if iirc. No one noticed him at first as he was off to the side.

Trust me, I'm a 49ers fan. The Friday night they played the Packers in the preseason, nobody was talking about it at all. Then the next morning bam, it was suddenly a thing. It started long before he got his first regular season start against Buffalo, which was 2-3 months later.

I'm still relieved he's gone for various reasons, but there are far worse QB's than him that have a job. It's definitely not just his quality of play that's keeping him unemployed. A factor, yes, but there's definitely more to it than that.

But the current state of the NBA, where the Warriors and Cavs are so far above everyone else (and the Warriors are so far above the Cavs too) has turned it into a complete mess. This season was literally 6 months of meaningless regular season games, then 3 rounds of meaningless postseason games, to get to the NBA Finals matchup that we predicted back in October... and even that series is pretty much over after only 2 games.

As a Warriors fan, the Warriors are not "so far above" the Cavs, and this series is far from over.
