Meh, to me this is one of those hypotheticals where both sides talk well out of their asses and don't really know how they'd react in actuality. Objectively, yes, a human life is far more valuable than a pet's life. But I love my pets dearly and might love certain human beings less so. So my objectivism would at the very least have a heart-wrenching hiccup if faced with this hypothetical.

It's the strongest hurricane to ever come out of the Atlantic. If it gains anymore strength they can create a category just for this storm. It's predicted to make landfall in florida as a cat5 or cat4 hurricane, which would make it one of the worst in recorded history. If people stay in florida or on the coast now, they are just stupid.

Fallout 4 was lazy for a game that took 5+ years.

Here's where I would disagree to a fair extent. Fallout 3 was the low point of Bethesda game development: apart from the atmospheric overload of stepping out of the Vault into the wide wasteland, that game fails on nearly every conceivable level to the point of being downright insulting. Skyrim was the epitome of their one step forward, one step back mentality, and in my opinion reeked of laziness the way Fallout 3 dripped with ineptitude.

Which was why I was pleasantly surprised that Fallout 4, while still having many many flaws, actually showed me that Bethesda gave a shit for a change. You really have to understand the fundamental ways that Fallout 3 failed to see how Fallout 4 actually made some decent strides in correcting those failures, especially in the worldbuilding (I'd be happy to elaborate on some examples if someone was truly interested). And in the fields where they couldn't improve on their own, they actually shocked me a bit by very closely emulating New Vegas (or at least as best as they could) - this is especially prevalent in the main quest structure and the follower system. There are some noteworthy steps backward with 4: the dialogue trees, the over-reliance on radiant quest, etc. But considering my low opinion of Fallout 3 in general, they couldn't score any lower than a tie with 4, so I wasn't particularly disappointed with 4's shortcomings (except the Vaults: those are the biggest misstep 4 made and the only thing that 3 inarguably did better).

I thought it was pretty good when I first saw it, but nothing phenomenal (apart from a movie of that logistical scope existing in the first place, which was pretty damn phenomenal). 'Puny God' singlehandedly made the movie. I rewatched it about a month ago for the first time since seeing it in theaters, and my opinion of it improved somewhat.

I actually liked Age of Ultron better when I first saw it, but I was probably still riding high on the wave of renewed interest in Marvel movies that Winter Soldier and GotG gave me.

FF9 gets a lot of internet praise over the other PSX games for having a good amount of polish and not having any glaring flaws. This gives people the ability to profess their fondness of it without having to worry about defending it. While it is an excellent game, it plays things safe in way too many categories, relying on tried-and-true settings and gameplay mechanics in a series that is normally (and imo, should be) about innovation.

FF 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, and 12 (to name the ones I've played) take considerable risks in their design, from plot points to combat design. I always appreciated this because, succeed or fail, it provided the one thing that drew me into the franchise: creativity. The downside to this is that, through their missteps, most or all of these games provide detractors with plenty of fuel with which to burn them.

I'm not saying that FF 9 is bereft of creativity - it's a FF title, for goodness sake. But apart from maybe the design of Lindblum and Kuja's thong, nothing about 9 really surprised me or upended my expectations. The destruction of Cleyra was a bit surprising, but add that on to the previous sacking of Burmecia, it became pretty apparent that destroying all the major cities was inevitably going to be a plot / gameplay device; not only did it not surprise me when Lindblum and Alexandria were later toasted, but it annoyed me greatly that those worldspaces then became unavailable or severely reduced. The only moment that truly stirred me was the Assault of the Silver Dragons: FF 9 was the perfect venue for an old-school airship battle played out in then-glorious FMV, and up until that point I was seriously afraid that they'd go the entire game without one.

I definitely enjoyed the game all 4-5 times I played through it, but for me it was a bread-and-butter experience compared to the other FF titles. So I can't begin to call 9 the best in the series or even on the console when - while a very solid and polished game - it failed to stir me to the emotional and spiritual heights that the other games in the series did.

OEIO999 is your typical contemporary Bethesda diehard: he can't see the lack of depth in his own analyses the same way he can't see the lack of depth in the very thing he's analyzing, and of course gets immediately defensive / belittling when forced to confront his shortcomings. I made the mistake of arguing with one a couple weeks ago who was thoroughly convinced that Skyrim's Miraak was a deep and meaningful character. Couldn't find a better examples of the Dunning-Kruger effect in action.

Still waiting for them to remove the arbitrary 150 mod cap, which was apparently just an aftereffect in their attempt to fix crashing in Skyrim SE load order menu. As far as arbitrary limits go, the 2 / 5 gb data cap was already more than sufficient, and the total-mods cap trashes smaller tweak mods' chances of earning a coveted spot in the 150.

Considering how much easier it would be to fix that than removing the data dump they've just done on our harddrives, I'm not holding my breath.

People over-state the Joker origin thing.

"His origin is completely irrelevant to what makes him an interesting character" =/= "he should never have an origin story"

As long as they dont waste much time on some normal dude it'll have potential. Drop him in the vat of acid by the end of the first act. Make the rest of the movie "Joker: Year One".

Or just include the line 'If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!' since apparently people didn't have a problem with Killing Joke doing an origin

It'll never happen, but it might be fun if they start the story in media res, have Mr. J flash back to three or so different pre-Joker origin stories over the course of the main plot, and then let the audience pick which one they think fits best.
