Now Radiant Dawn is the one that all those Fire Emblem cliches were unfortunately reserved for. The first two and much of the third act of Radiant Dawn was so much better than the final act because it focused on civil war, politics and rebellion. Once the story corrected its course in the finale towards the usual save the world from insert otherworldly entity it became run-of-the-mill boring.

I see what you mean, but I thought there was a little more nuance, and even a certain beauty, to the specific supernatural final boss Radiant Dawn had. You weren't sealing away an ancient evil like in Shadow Dragon or Sacred Stones, but rather restoring the two halves of what used to be a loving deity. The detail of the Lehran's healing in the true ending also reaches a much higher level of meaning than the pseudo-mythological stuff in FE usually does for me.

Edelgard is a character that very intentionally creates a lot of debate and discussion and I think thats fairly rare in games.

I admire that this was the intention behind her character, but I think the execution needed work. Edelgard isn't really that complex because her pragmatic methods are sort of demonstrably not necessary in the game's story. Sylvain's ending in Blue Lions makes it clear that he achieves a lot of the same reforms she was going for without having to cause a war that killed millions, lol. In comparison, I love Delita's story in FFT, which I think is a similar idea to Edelgard just done better.

There are some satisfying story beats and interesting ideas, but I wound up feeling apathetic toward the game as a whole. The structure harms it I think. I got really tired of re-playing the same act 1 to get to the new act 2 - this decimates the pacing if you're trying to see all the routes (and you have to in order to get a full picture of the story.) I agree that Edelgard's story was lacking. I liked Dimitri's story of downfall and redemption more in comparison.

After learning about Milcery from the poll the other day, Alcremie is such a disappointing evolved form. I was really hoping they would take an Electrode or Muk kind of route and just have a really big pile of coom.

The original 1986 version of Dragon Quest, where you had to choose which direction to talk in because there were no sprites for people facing different directions and every enemy gave like 3 xp may deserve such a fate.
