sheathe weapon and kite when it's in the wrong mode? but soloing in abyssea is definitely possible in i117 gear on some jobs, i remember doing it really early on with PUP to get something i needed for BST

not sure, i don't think i ever did any of the mini expansions other than the shantotto one (because Desultor Tassets is literally mandatory for BST)

there's pay to win dlc that makes CP a lot more manageable (like very early access to titles that regen CP after battles) that pirates get for free

general consensus i've seen is that any difficulty higher than normal becomes a slog without at least some dlc, not necessarily out of difficulty but out of number tuning

you can do shadowbringers trust dungeons at 75, so definitely try that

look up a guide on general rotation flow if you need to, but it'll probably become obvious after a little playtime

if you can avoid instant death via meteor placements, it shouldnt be too bad. dunno if you can though, if a golem gets too big it does infinite damage

One specific Divination Rune always finds a way to wipe my entire party there, because it pops up as the tank is probably trying to reposition the boss towards mid and ends up cleaving the entire party.

almost always get one wipe there because of aoe pushing king mog down too fast, but at least it's pretty quick on the second run

and if you're tank, pop sprint before you get sucked in, it does help quite a lot

have you uh, played any of the wow classes i mentioned

i think if u did you'd realize that every xiv class is basically the same, and most wow healer classes are incredibly drastically different

edit: i still think xiv is the better game overall btw. i just wish wow's uniqueness seeped into xiv's dance

i just want some semblance of uniqueness

compare any of 14's classes to wow's mistweaver, resto druid, or disc priest

all of the 14 classes are ultra vanilla with very slight variances

So after playing it in a few dungeons I think I really do not like what they did to AST cards.

my interest in ast died when i couldn't sabotage my mch by giving him attack speed cards :(

i just... can't get invested in another % dmg up buff when that's basically the one homogenous raid buff we have anymore (excepting singularly chain strat, i think?)

ast constant weaving was hard before and it's... slightly easier now that i can do it on whm/sch/sge and have experience but still its very anti my current playstyle. i feel like i plan my ogcd weaves within that gcd, so having to do it literally 100% of the time fries my tiny brain

job gauges as a thing that exists for every job is kinda whack

so many of them would be just as easy to track via buffs with numbers attached to them

whm was a little harder until EW because their movement options were the worst so maintaining full DPS uptime while avoiding mechanics took some forethought, but now all healers have the same GCD mobility so it definitely feels easier now

luzaf and gessho were my favorite toau characters

kind of biased towards gessho though because i used his trust as my main tank for like an entire year until i could farm up the arkangels

Sirensong Sea is nowhere near Holminister imo. I remember wiping repeatedly as I levelled all my healers up through there if the tank tried to wall to wall; I don't think I've ever seen a single wipe to trash in Sirensong Sea.

It felt like most of the healers were missing vital parts of their healing kit for dungeon healing, like Recitation on SCH and Celestial Intersection on AST.

yeah cutter's cry is one of the more obnoxious ARR dungeons

I think the tank and healer both have to be pretty competent to wall-to-wall Bardham at least. Ive never tried it but have definitely had a pretty decent amount of deaths just doing two packs at a time there.

there definitely are some exceptions like bardam, doma castle's first stretch, and the 71 and 81 dungeons

in those cases it comes down to whether your tank is a warrior or not heh

everything after heavensward should be safe to wall to wall if your healer isn't asleep at the wheels and you're cycling mitigation, yeah

as a healer, i find double pulling to be a lot more relaxing than single pulls actually. you can use cooldowns far more aggressively because the amount of time you spend in combat is effectively halved

if it doesn't exist, you can make a macro of it

also go try out cone targetting if you haven't already, it's great

you can also use a "target focus target" hotkey to get back into the boss but yeah target target is what i use the most

you can also use it to target whichever tank has aggro!

yeah but I've definitely been seeing more of her in the past week specifically as well

You shouldn't actually have to swap targets all that much on healer, honestly- if a DPS gets tickled and lowered to 60% HP and there's no unavoidable damage coming up, heal them with free tools like assize, physis, or whispering dawn as they become available (remember that passive HP recovery over time is not insignificant, too). During trash pulls with the tank, keep the tank targetted the whole time because your aoe ability doesnt need a target (unless you're AST, in which case I'd heavily recommend learning healer on literally any other job). During boss fights, damage is usually so low you can keep the tank topped off with the necessary aoe heals plus the tank's self heals.

Can't really help much with controllers, though.

Promathia though has a pretty full cast of characters that all really shine out well, again to reiterate I love Prishe

prishe in dissidia is one of the main things that motivated me to even try ffxi or finish promathia! was really cool how gung-ho and crude she was in contrast with her holy aspect and smaller form

so far though I'm kinda completely baffled how Shantotto has always been the face of the game despite being so uninvolved. Like yeah he's one of the original content cast but going by that there's still Lion who's quite clearly actually part of the stories going on. As a Windurst citizen though I've got Ajido-Marujido making Shantotto feel even more insignificant.

you might have noticed already but her whole rhyming shtick was also entirely a product of localization (a good product i think, but still)

she's aight but she's just like... there... occasionally? and for some reason she has a mini expansion to herself (probably the best one by far but still). there's like at least 15 other figures from the crystal war i thought were cooler (noillurie my QUEEN). and in comparison i only sort of knew who lion was from that ff mobile game

I've done a bit of Wings which I'm excited for, Lilisette's got me sold but tbf I was already sold on her from DFFOO as well

honestly same but with that other ff mobile game. i think one of the few times i played actively was an xi event where she was boosted. but then i ended up loving her anyways

the CP one gets drained real fast at least, even when i was soloing. echad is so much value and makes levelling so fun. by the time you have enough of the expansions done to consider serious CP farming (because they all give a CP multiplier), the red kupo whatever for getting the CP ring will probably pop back up

technically beat Promathia, including the final cutscenes that required waiting for the next day (I finished at 1am jp time lol RIP), but tonight now on the Epilogue to it and Zilart

promathia was a really solid expansion, but i do feel like people kinda overrate it (like with wow players and BC/WotLK). prishe and ulmia are gr8 tho. and it was better than zilart, which felt like a lot of filler (but kam'lanaut was strangely hot)

fav overall expansion was WotG but i'm in a super minority there lol

although I didn't realize during the returners campaign that there was a big exp boost campaign as well, it seemed levels were going incredibly fast and then I realized oh that wasn't actually the norm

yeah those events are crazy, you can get 1-99 in 2 hours easy if you have an echad ring charge available. especially if you get shantotto 2, robel-akbel, semih lafihna, teodor, balamor, or any other characters that do immense mostly unconditional damage

RoV I did actually proceed a bit into Chapter 2 for the Rhapsody in Astral/Crimson items, I forget which one I think let you take trusts into the 75 limit break quests

that's a chapter 1 one, if you haven't fought a level 80~ boss enemy in the jungle yet i'd recommend pushing to it for the extra trust slot plus dynamis and assault (ToAU) uncap

then once you've done ToAU and Promathia, push on to the last trust slot because the interim rhapsodies plot is mostly ToAU/Zilart/Promathia

full trust party is so satisfying and fun

the few Rhapsodies of Vana'diel cutscenes I've come across are hype but that's the last content so I wanna wait on that

fyi if you get stuck on anything that's timegated, rhapsodies will probably un-timegate it in the first few missions (specifically, the first chapter of rhapsodies). there's time waits associated with ToAU, WotG, and SoA that are brought down to like one minute each if you do some early rhapsodies. as another bonus, chapter 1 gives you one more trust slot and the first third of chapter 2 gives the final one

the only thing you'll have to wait for are some of ToAU's dumb "wait a couple game days before starting the next story mission" missions

Bokurano isn't one of the worst anime ever, but it is one of the worst adaptations ever. It's why it's my most "hated" anime, even if not the worst I've seen. The director openly disliked the manga, which was VERY good.
