Nobody wants to even think about nukes being used, but the fact is, Putin keeps reminding us he has them, and this entire war is unpopular and pointless. Nobody thought Putin would actually invade. We have no idea where his head is at or how much power he still commands. Would he give the order? Would anyone follow it if he did? It'd be nice to answer "no" firmly to both questions, but the truth of the matter is, we don't know. If there is a power struggle in the government, anything could happen.

Sooner or later, humanity needs to confront the fact that the existence of weapons that allow a handful of people to end all life on Earth is something that just shouldn't be tolerated.

I saw a video where a semi-retired psychologist claimed that around 90% of people are probably psychologically unwell in some sense. Now combine that with COVID stress (stress caused by fear of COVID, getting COVID, long COVID, government response to COVID, supply chain delays, etc.) and the fact that this is CE, and I'd bet the percentage is pretty high.

How was there an auction with so many games that could be won so cheaply? Last I checked, prices were insane.

Will this lead to further conflict I wonder? There are excellent reasons for us not to help directly, but at the same time further weakening US reliability on the global stage could have huge ramifications if Russia becomes increasingly aggressive and China decides to do something similar with Taiwan.

I loved most of the characters in Grisaia. Amane was my favorite, though. Probably my favorite VN character is Setsuna from School Days and Shiny Days.

My favorite video game memories were playing Contra, Heavy Barrel, and Monopoly with my Dad on NES as a kid. He ended up dying of cancer before I could get one of those new fangled HD NES things hooked up properly. I don't feel too good these days playing classic games these days.

Have you tried Onirim or any of its "sequels"? I find those to be exceptionally satisfying. I like That's Pretty Clever and Twice as Clever too.

The depression will lift as soon as he notices that Rosalina and Daisy are both better than Peach anyway. And with Rosalina, Mario might be able to finally get some use out of the special Luma costume he ordered that Peach never liked...

The children will obviously be different because of the randomization of sperm and egg production, but how the hell does life work in a house when both the husband and wife have naturally produced clones of themselves living there? I can't even imagine.

How good were you at drawing before you got into painting? My drawing level is now "okay", but the few times I've tried painting, it was...an experience. I know most paintings start with drawings, but the process seems completely different.

RF4. I'll be fine as long as you can stall the main quest all you like. I'll stay in town, grow crops, and romance all the ladies, because I'm too sexy for my own good. <3

I don't know what it is, but for most of the more serious games, there are always button combinations I can't get to register and so I never get very far. It doesn't help that most fighting games have a community that lasts a couple of weeks at most making them a poor investment and hard to pick up later.

I do kind of agree that the main cast has some likeability problems. Rita was always my favorite.

Dogs are too excitable and needy and trigger my anxiety. I don't currently own a pet, but if I did, it would be a cat. Cats are more my speed.

So when someone has a lot of power, there are tough choices, and that just absolves them of blame? Let's be clear: Bush did nothing good while he was president. He lied, he cheated, he stole our civil liberties away, he got us into huge wars for the benefit of the wealthy and to the detriment of everyone else. It was not a mistake or something done with noble intentions. It was pure evil for the sake of power and personal gain.

The Shannara series just had an absolutely atrocious adaptation a few years ago.

Wasn't it like from MTV and super low budget? That hardly counts. It would be like saying The Dresden Files had an adaptation when we all struggle to forget that horrible abomination from the early 2000s which had nothing to do with the books.

With a username like yours, surely you see the potential for a Shannara series? They have a very LOTR like structure, are well loved by fans, and it happens to be one of the few series I've read where changes to make it fit for TV might be an improvement. All the characters except for Allanon really cry out for more depth. I've only read 8 of them, but every single one of those books were dark and exciting. Pacing issues could easily be resolved in an adaptation.

Or if Amazon wanted a replacement for The Expanse since they already have Wheel of Time for fantasy, they might finally make their adaptation of the Culture novels or maybe pick up the rights to the dark and gritty Polity novels. But I really do wish Shannara would get a fair shot.

Could someone explain to me why we are getting Lord of the Rings again instead of a fresh adaptation of something that hasn't been done to death, like maybe the Shannara series?
