Only watched Round 1 so far and got two right: Persona 4 (which I knew immediately) and Mother 3 (which I didn't get until I heard that very last riff since I recognized it from Smash Bros.). I recognized the KH song but I couldn't place which game. I would've guessed MM for the first one but never would've been able to place which game.

my wife also insists that I mention that she recognized the series of two of them: Mega Man and Kingdom Hearts

I did not realize Super Mario Sunshine had become the prequel trilogy of Nintendo games

I tried playing the first one and lost a lot of progress at one point because the game's auto-save failed me and that was the last I played of it

I think Armin is right that Eren isn't on board with Zeke's plan, but he literally needs Zeke to activate the Rumbling, so they're both just using each other for their own purposes. I get Armin wants to believe in Eren, but it certainly doesn't justify the actions he's taken to do it. Conny has every reason to be angry at the Volunteers, whether they went along willingly or they were coerced.

I'm just glad Levi didn't get killed by that utter tool Zeke or that utter tool Floch or that utter tool Yelena.

TWEWY2 Day 4 beated! End of that mission was super predictable, but at least we got a Kariya cameo out of it! And it took Rindo this long to figure out that Swallow must be in the UG if he can still text him? I know protagonists have to be a little dense as a general rule, but come on, man!

I never said the Rams don't win if that penalty isn't called, actually. It would've been a much better ending than what we got if that's what happened though.

but both teams approach the game differently if the facemask at the beginning of the third quarter gets called, so "the Bengals shouldn't have been winning anyway" doesn't really apply to that situation

well you're also making the false assumption that the rest of the game plays out exactly the same if that penalty is properly called

the Rams had two accepted penalties and one that was offset on the final drive

the Bengals had four penalties and one that was offset on the final drive

so yeah the refs called more penalties on three consecutive plays than they had the rest of the game combined before that

it's okay Melia makes up for it by being an actual great character

heck yeah the return of Susato is a great moment

anyway in the case of this game I never said the Bengals got robbed ("the fix is in" was a post made in jest) and I wouldn't have said the Rams got robbed if the roles were reversed and Cincy managed to win on their last drive either

it's just a lame ending when penalties called on three consecutive plays decides it whether those penalties are legit or not, like a game winning touchdown with less than 2 minutes to go should be a thrilling ending, and that was not

because the issue in that game wasn't "technically it was holding" (because nobody was arguing it wasn't holding by the letter of the rules) it was "they didn't call that all game until the final drive when it actually decided the game"

timing matters with these things but if you want to be the guy who's just "well maybe he shouldn't have been holding then" that's fine but again nobody likes that guy

the issue for me is more that it's a lame ending than whether the call was missed or legit or a make up call or whatever you want to frame it as

like yeah if you're a Rams fan you feel good no matter how it happens but as someone with no horse in the race it's not really a memorable ending for good reasons and I don't think it'll go down as an ending we'll be talking about for years to come, unlike something like Cardinals/Steelers

it's an exaggeration but the same logic. There's always some risk to bending the rules even if you got away with it before. Obviously consistency is better, but I will never have a problem with a call if it actually is a penalty regardless of previous calls

it's more like you have a group of cars all going 80 miles an hour and one car gets pulled over

like you can be the guy saying "well maybe you shouldn't have been speeding" but nobody likes that guy

yeah again, it's just the timing of when it all happens

the Rams getting several retries courtesy of the refs before finally being able to score is very anticlimactic

To me it isn't that the calls were made.

It's that they went from calling nothing the entire game to making penalty calls on three consecutive plays.

Suddenly, with the game on the line, they were actually calling all the penalties they were ignoring before.

That's the problem I have. It's a horrible optic.

this is the same issue I had with the end of Packers/Bucs last year

they let that call go the entire game until the final drive

it's all about when it happens

the Rams still had an entire second half to win the game after that blown call, the Bengals had 90 seconds

(pass interference should still be reviewable but the refs got so butthurt about having their judgment questioned that they intentionally refused to overturn blatantly obvious calls)

yeah I don't think this goes in the pantheon of worst Super Bowl losses (it's not even the worst Bengals Super Bowl loss!) but it certainly looks sour when they just start calling penalties every time the Rams don't score
