so weird how everyone defaults to the "lol it sounds like a lisp" thing

the game was always a mess and had boring and small level design and a staggering lack of content but they never stopped people from obsessing over a mediocre game

i never understood the fun of being so immensely overlevelled that nothing is remotely challenging

smt combat is already really simple actually, but when the game has a severe level curve on top you basically win every fight for free as long as you play competently. it's really hard to lose in a game where your level dictates your damage and skills, but then you add in how broken press turn is and it's just really easy to basically checkmate bosses just by being at an appropriate level

when this thread comes up i'm honestly never sure if it's in bad faith or not
the rules are phenomenally easy to follow and the mods don't do shit about most instances of trolling

people got hilariously mad about this line, blaming the localization for it, when it was already there in japanese

it's an unbelievably easy series to the point that the battle system and any sense of strategy literally do not matter because you just autobattle the entire series, but people lap that shit up and constantly praise how good the combat is anyways for some reason

he was always an obnoxious screaming asshole with bad effects and even-worse jokes, absolutely never worth watching
avgn went overboard on the dumb skits and fake anger too, but it is interesting to see james as a person talking about something

it's just the idea that you can be lost in an eerie, unfamiliar place that by all accounts should be a regular and familiar place
but for the most part, the "liminal spaces" crowd just loves to post dark hallways and act like it's the spookiest shit ever

i dunno, it is more overwatch but people really undersell all the changes the game made. several heroes got reworked (especially tanks), the three roles have unique passives to differentiate them, push is much different than 2cp, and we have a good amount of new maps just in beta and we're expected to have multiple new heroes

with overwatch being so old i don't really mind that 2 is so similar since it's a refreshing change after so long, and you don't have to pay for the pvp if you own the original anyways so it's pretty hard for me to care

The role queue and forced meta is one of the dumbest things ever. Let the "pros" deal with that. Just let regular people join a game instantly and play as whoever they want to.

i agree that role queue is lame but it's clear that the majority favors it. if you actually play competitive without role queue the mode is pretty dead and like 3200 is top 500

meanwhile quick play classic, quick play without role queue, is still very active because unsurprisingly the casuals are playing the casual modes and not the one with rating on the line

because it's a pretty lazy bad-faith argument or desperate attempt to be neutral when there's no reason to
there's usually the one side that s very absolutely the bad party, but people want to take any small misdeed of the other and blow it out of proportion because people think being neutral and indifferent is super cool and enlightened i guess

people's desperation to be neutral extends to simple binary questions like "which of these two do you prefer"

i played it day 1 but the queues were way too dead to really experience it past 5 games

it was a pretty great game, even if it still didn't the godly art of the original game
it pretty much played like classic pso in peak form, with just enough added depth and variety but without really betraying what the game was about
it feels much better than pso2 does, and i actually prefer that it's a bit more grounded in its approach to combat, so you don't just have massive skills to stunlock everything or ridiculous movement options to zip around everything

i just want another game like infinity but with presentation like the original's

one of the lamest sequels i've ever played

even in the 2012 beta i was not really having any fun and they basically added nothing good in future releases and just kept adding more and more forgettable areas and boring battles and quests

pso had a lot of issues (limited areas, questionable balance, awful enemy ai, lack of content) but in the day it was a big deal and had a strong aesthetic. instead of embracing the combat of the original or even portable 2 infinity they messed everything up and made the combat even more mindless

i can't think of a single rpg where i've enjoyed every minute, there's always that horrible quest and the really obnoxious ending dungeon

6 was the biggest surprise, i remembered it being a non-linear rpg masterpiece with tons of well-written characters, but it's basically a straight line of a game where most characters get one or two scenes where they're relevant and are then forgotten in the context of the plot

people remember rpgs being a lot better-written and more open than they actually were, just like how they remember (probably because they were kids and bad at games at the time) them all being super long epics when they weren't
the misconception about length has led to unrealistic expectations and tons of padding

it's 2022 and people still don't know to put a dangling # at the end of a url so that it links properly on gamefaqs

the usual suspects always run in with their "how dare you not want to serve as a platform for hateful and inciteful speech" schtick

wipeout hd's dlc added a lot of content for $8

as long as you play super defensive egg robo can't really do anything if you just run to the other side of the screen. playing patient is tedious but it makes the fight really easy

what happens if the dog chases after something? does it just teleport back to me once it gets far enough, only to keep chasing after its target in a sort of weird endless futile run?

i only played ragnarok and it kinda played like garbage. i can't imagine how anyone played it back in the ps2 days when it was a way slower experience with unskippable animations. great aesthetics though
