disgaea 1 has the best plot and is pretty simple, if you don't like its odd pacing and terrible balance you can consider the second game
disgaea 2 is a bit more complex than the original and irons out a lot of the problems while still being relatively simple, definitely a good starting point if you're annoyed by the first game's jank
disgaea 3 and disgaea 4 are convoluted messes of games that add so many obnoxious barriers that might be annoying to deal with, making once-simple things big pains to deal with while not adding much real complexity or depth with a lot of the new additions (it's amazing how the eviilty system ends up being incredibly boring)
disgaea d2 is a return to simplicity like the original two but it's also the only direct sequel; it's my favorite of the ps2/ps3 games due to its pacing and balance even if the story sucks and it was put together with toothpicks and glue

as someone who barely remembers the first and didn't care to see the others: what made the ending of the second one so bad?

the game becomes a lot easier if you get the best armor early. earlygame difficulty kinda peaks against the gang zombie and duncan and the difficulty never really recovers until the final dungeon, and even then half the enemies there are jokes
boomerang is basically the penultimate weapon for every character and you get it unreasonably early for how good it is

i can't imagine struggling with map traversal outside of the encounter rate though. the game is very straight-forward and the game makes it pretty clear where you're meant to go if you actually read dialogue

Inclusivity is good, but in celebrating diversity and tolerance we can glorify the atypical and suggest the typical are less-than. And no child, male/female/trans/etc should feel less than.

this happens literally any time there's any sort of pride event for anyone who's not a "typical" straight white male
and it's no surprise that it's always the same bad-faith actors

japanese-made games can be fun but anime seems to be so full of garbage

gex 1 was charming as fuck but also janky as fuck
interesting level design and it was a ton fun to explore, but the physics and collision detection were fucking bonkers and the camera did not play very nicely

gex 2 in many ways felt like a 3d reimagining of the first game (many of the same tropes and voice lines) but it was held back by unimaginative mission design

gex 3 is more ambitious than gex 2 was but its level design felt a lot blander, and they made gex himself way more annoying and the game overall had a really weird dumb tone

the popularity of a game like this really makes some people upset

In my opinion there is something very wrong with that, since games are supposed to be GAMES, meaning they have a level of challenge.

why do people have such a narrow view of what games are and ever could be
it's a medium that has evolved with its creators and consumers

i imagine that my disabilities would impair my dancing to the point that i'd have never gotten the job
on the scene i'd be dead on the spot

grindy at the start but it gets a lot easier once you can finally get armor
the boomerang is also basically everyone's penultimate weapon so getting it asap really speeds things up

battles are kind of boring because everything kinda just "deals damage" and nothing else, but it's a very endearing and charming game
