Oh thank god at least one other person agrees.

Ill be honest i dont remember it but it seemed so grindy i just stopper playing. And i loved the GBA game....

Why would you think it's grindier?
I used to be a min/maxer in games - until I started playing TTRPGs. The leveling system in the PSP game was a min/maxer's total nightmare. The bonus stat gains, although minimal, were only given to the characters that were that class upon its level up. That meant that to maximize gains you had to have every character you want to use level up at the same time as the same class -- and it made me feel like I had to mono-class levels. It also made me feel like I had to rush through the game to get to the special characters I planned on using. Doing a speedrun or a mono-class run is fine if you want to do a challenge run or something -- but to feel like that's how the game is meant to be played is absurd.

I understand that the system is only problematic if you're a min/maxing, which I'm not anymore as much as I used to be. I also understand that there are tarot cards to raise stats (minimally in the remake) that you can still farm if you want to cheese everything even moreso.
But I still liked the connection you felt raising a character from level 1 and watching them progress -- seeing their stat gains, feeling good when you get a tarot card for your favorite character, etc. The game presents enough of a challenge at certain points (rescue missions for sure, like Selye in the N route or Haborymn depending upon your team setup) - that I think it's okay to have your characters slightly overpowered. That's the fun of RPGs. If I wanted to take away the ideas of unique character growth and development -- I'd play Advance Wars or an RTS or something.

People claim all vegans are super vocal -- when it's rarely vegans that are vocal, it's usually people complaining about vegans who are the most vocal.
Same thing here. Anti-circumcision activists are the ones constantly bringing up the topic online -- it's not like random guys are starting the conversation like, "GUESS WHAT? I'M CUT!"

Im genuinely surprised In the Mouth of Madness is not in that list in post 27.

Im sorry, midsommar is not better than the thing lol. That whole wave of A24, 2 hour horror movies where nothing happens until the end, and the monster wasnt real. It was a figment of their imagination and really a metaphor for mental illness is not good

Midsommar was a fantastically directed and acted film, there have been slower horror films as long as horror's been around (and I don't even see how anybody says the Ari Aster films are slow? Especially when they turn around and say stuff like Halloween are their favorite films), and I don't know what film(s) you're referring to with monsters being a metaphor for mental illness other than The Babadook -- which isn't A24 and isn't that great of a film.

Brad Taste in Music. I've watched Fantano for years, mostly just as background noise, because I like his voice and he comes across as a collected and knowledgeable professional. And when his personality shines through, it's a really fun channel to watch. That being said, the show is just him talking and giving really thought out opinions on music. There's only so much you can hear someone else describe how a song sounds.

Brad Taste in Music - while also a Fantano bro to a point - is a much more entertaining channel. He actually plays music in his videos and reacts to it, he's played both Phoebe Bridgers albums which is just a whole fucking trip to watch someone sit through. He also does themed videos where people leave song suggestions for the theme, i.e. worst songs ever or most.poorly aged songs ever. He goes at the music with a similar passion to a figure like Fantano, but he's not above giving shit a pass just because he really likes it, haters be damned. I'd recommend one of his themed videos, maybe something positive like Best Songs Ever. That, or look up an artist you like and see how Brad feels about their music.

Another music channel I'd recommend, despite being significantly more clickbaity and harder to recommend, is Justin Hawkins Rides Again. The lead singer of the Darkness has his own YouTube channel where he talks about music news and stuff like that. The video titles are pure clickbait bullshit, but I really like listening to what Justin Hawkins has to say about stuff.

And the thing about music youtubers like this is that the goal is never to hold them as a shining compass of objectivity in regards to music. Fantano doesn't know shit about ABBA. Brad Taste in Music is just vibing and having a good time. Justin Hawkins can be kind of kneejerk and smarmy. But all three channels are informative and entertaining in their own way, and enjoying them is one way to expand your musical palate. Hawkins recently spotlighted a Scottish singer named Paolo Nutini, and that shit is so far up my alley that I'm planning to do a deep dive into his music. Fantano's King Gizzard reviews are how I began to really keep up with their music, because Nonagon Infinity was a tough fucking nut to crack and seeing someone whose opinion I respected - whether I agreed with his takes or not - was one way to stay engaged with the band even when I was struggling with the music. Brad hosts these mediashare streams where you pay to send songs in for him to react to, and it's a great way to find new music. I found like a sci-fi hip hop group a while back, I didn't keep up with them but the music was pretty entertaining.

There's a whole new generation of music youtubers who are shaking up the formula, and I'm really into it.

The best music Youtuber is Punk Rock MBA by a large, large margin.

So I would have to say Dragon Warrior/Quest. I love the world and its monsters/characters, the art style, the traditionalist take on JRPGs -- and I can get behind nearly any spin-off. I love the Monsters games, the Torneko games, all the mobile games they've had, etc.

Yes, and the PSP version was kind of whack because of the class-leveling system instead of the unit leveling. They're changing that dire, dire mistake in this remake, though. The PSP version was borderline unplayable for me -- and I literally bought the pre-order, bought a PSP JUST for the game, etc. Like I'd never been more excited for a game in my life.

This sounds like it'll be the best parts of the original with the best parts of the PSP version (the soundtrack, the sprites, etc.) fused together.

More medical but it's usually based on BMI which is problematic itself.

Similar to what I was going to say.
It's definitely a medical term - but its importance is kind of fading with time. In dietetics they no longer use "morbidly," but instead use stages -- and BMI is far, far less important nowadays than UBW or unexpected/unplanned weight gain/loss. BMI will get used for PES statements just to satisfy TJC requirements or whatever - but it's not as much of a concern as it used to be.

It's funny that in dietetics there's a big shift in those regards, but bro-scientists will still fat shame and act like that's the norm in the whole medical community.
