One time a stray cart destroyed my small town of Wickywickywoo in Wisconsin. I saw it coming but I couldn't do anything: Like a car being flung by a tornado, this stray cart rammed through the parking lot, knocking down the elderly and obese with the ease of a knife to butter.

You never forget the screams. One lady was yelling out to her four year old, but as she tried to save him, that's when a second stray cart knocked her ass right to the ground. Her child didn't stand a chance. We were being terrorized, all because Boggler didn't put the fucking cart back, that lazy fuck.

At this point dozens of carts had been freed. As Boggler tried to escape, two carts hit his pickup truck, immediately causing a massive explosion that ignited the gas leak in the area. I only survived because I was under the rubble of the Walmart after a bunch of carts ran into the side of the store that was about fifty years old, immediately causing the wall the collapse on me. A kind stranger used their body to protect me, but they died in the process.

Only after the next town's police came over did the madness end. I truly wish the Cart Narcs were here that day, so much tragedy could've been avoided.

To me: The point seems to be to harass/get a rise out of people for entertainment using pretty thin lines of justification. Like, sure, put the cart back, but also is it really worth making an entire public scene about it if you don't? It isn't really proportionate at all and it's not shocking that the people who do this also have been caught harassing the homeless.

I think people want a reason to feel justified watching a guy put down people who are mildly shitty. But after the anti-mask shit that America dealt with for like two years, it's really hard for me to care about something like this because we know how insignificant it is compared to stuff that's way more common and elicits no reaction at all.

If people are entertained by this that's fine but when the guy running this turns out to be a terrible human being or eventually gets seriously hurt because someone freaks out on him, nobody should be surprised.

"Sexual needs" should never be used as a defense for a lack of consent (Marital rape, date rape, men who feel "owed" sex and lash out when they don't get it, general entitlement seen in some men over the subject, etc.) but it's fair to say that people in general do want/like sex and as a result might mentally require it to stay happy. Making "sexual needs" a gender thing is weird and is on-brand for FDS, which ironically promotes gender stereotypes/values under the guise of feminism, somehow.

I don't think I've seen many Kojima fans who don't acknowledge a lot of his naming conventions are on the nose. That is part of the charm of some of his stuff; being overly on-the-nose with this kind of thing is only an innate negative if it's trying to be completely serious.

Interstellar ironically demonstrates far better than MGS ever could how much exposition can drag something; While MGS is pretty consistent in its gameplay > cutscene loops that consistently culminate in an extended finale, Interstellar essentially stops about 3/4ths of the way in to explain things to the audience in a way that isn't really consistent with the rest of the film and ultimately drags the amazing emotional components down because it doesn't have anywhere near enough faith in its audience.

Don't get me wrong- Insterstellar is better as a story than some (or most) of Kojima's MGS games, but it's substantially less interesting (or important) than MGS2 was, and fucks up exposition harder than Kojima ever does with the exception of MGS4.

Remember: It is, and has always, been about hating women & minorities. The backlash to female Thor/Hulk is the same as it ever was, meaning the MCU can't even take from existing media properties older than the people who complain about these things.

When they say "Just make your own thing" or "Just stay true to the comics," they are lying to your face and just want to kick the can down the road until they feel like they can comfortably call any media with female superheroes "woke" or "SJW."

The show looks terrible btw but that's honestly besides the point now that the MCU is taking from 40+ year old properties and still getting called woke.

Video games as a medium were in such a sad state that David Cage got away with the hackiest shit imaginable and got 10s from reviewers who had never seen basic film noir before.

Despite this and the general infancy of gaming as a medium (and its resistance to atypical narratives/narrative methods) I don't really see an argument against MGS2 as a narrative. It's definitely a good early example of using the game as a medium to subvert/message in tandem with the plot, and was woefully misunderstood as a result by reactionary gaming communities.

Like, alright, MGS2 isn't The Wire. Sure. But The Wire is a meticulously crafted drama/social commentary that's incredibly realistic and meant to feel like a genuine slice of life of police procedural/gang life in Baltimore at the time.

MGS2 is interactive media that uses its status as interactive media to create a weird and twisty science fiction narrative with meta elements that reference the prior installment.

Like, I dunno, these aren't even remotely trying to be the same thing. I don't think MGS2 is flawless, even, but a hackjob? Hardly, it was unique for its time and remains pretty stand-out as an example of meta narrative in interactive media.

I use to be like this, but I could be persuaded it should be reserved for politicians.

I could, possibly, be contested on subjects involving crimes against humanity (i.e. agitators who cause mass societal destruction, ala the Nazis) but even then I simply cannot justify beyond an emotional level that people who are detained should be killed. I do not malign the state if it must kill active shooters whatsoever, but once they have been cuffed and are in custody, they are docile to the public.

Fox News is definitely guilty of this, but in the long term, Breitbart and InfoWars (as well as their affiliates) are really the biggest contributors to this. They mainstreamed it and weaponized a grifted audience to force Fox News to push rightwards.

Steve Bannon is a modern day Julius Streicher and should absolutely be tried for crimes against humanity alongside a host of other media runners that have normalized stochastic terrorism against minority groups.

Not really seeing it here; the most significant similarities here are the haircuts and the black & white covers. However;

-The lighting in both images is pretty different. Foxy Shazam's is highly saturated to the point where it almost looks drawn.

-The cross and the fact Nally is smoking/winking gives off an entirely different vibe.

-The framing of both covers is very distinct; Florence's is framed with the album title taking up much of the cover while her image takes up probably 60-70% of the album, whereas text is overlaid over Foxy Shazam's album cover, which is the aforementioned saturated photo of Nelly. Essentially, the name is emphasized in one, whereas the face is emphasized in the other.

Many, many, many album covers featuring black & white musicians exist, one off the top of my head that hasn't been referenced so far, and Henley's even smoking on the cover -

The framing, implied tone, and color saturation are all pretty different, and years of separation exist between both album covers. They have similarities but they seem about as consistent as most similarities on the basic concept of a portrait-esque black & white album cover, which Shazam certainly did not invent.
