It fits the theme of survival that the game has going on, but I wouldn't say I love this or anything. It's just fine.
I'm surprised I haven't seen it elsewhere, it's a nice enough distraction and adds to the immersion (at least for me).

Thanks for sharing, folks.

Me personally I was raised muslim but it was really difficult when I realized that I'm gay and yeah the two just don't mix (especially not here). I personally think that it's impossible to know what happens for sure when we die, but especially since the thought of just not having consciousness ever again is scary and hard to fathom. So I mostly consider myself agnostic.

Gotta purchase 'em all!

1 - Pokemon Red, Blue, Yellow
2 - Pokemon Gold, Silver, Crystal
3 - Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire, Emerald (+ Fire Red and Leaf Greed)
4 - Pokemon Diamond, Pearl, Platinum (+ Heart Gold and Soul Silver)
5 - Pokemon Black, White, Black 2, White 2
6 - Pokemon X and Y (+ Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire)
7 - Pokemon Sun, Moon, Ultra Sun, Ultra Moon
8 - Pokemon Sword and Shield (+ Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl)

I personally would count playing the remakes as the generation when the remakes come out, as they are more similar technologically and gameplay-wise to that generation.

Anyway, all 8 for me.

I'll say that your writeup about MGS4 gives me hope and interest in playing it.

Additionally
Is this popular just because they're conventionally attractive human characters in Smash who are from slightly dark series? Because at least Samus x Little Mac is based on five seconds of an ad.
Maybe mostly so, but the webcomic Brawl in the Family also paired them off and that's probably why I thought to nominate this pairing in the first place.

Worth noting that when Mei asks if that's ever actually happened the response is that it just MUST NOT happen. Given the negative experiences the older generation had with it I take it there was just a strong fear to suppress.
