I would be shocked if the doj didnt know what nara was doing with getting documents back.

There's also the consideration that NARA truly didn't know what Trump had. While it was clear he took things with him, there were also numerous reports throughout his presidency that presidential records were not handled appropriately. I'm not sure if we'll ever find out the truth, but it could have been something where NARA was trying to determine where specific documents were and only knew they were with Trump when he returned the first batch earlier this year.

Here's some insight into why the FBI and DOJ were worried about where those documents were stored:

https://newsinteractive.post-gazette.com/anna-de-rothschild-trump-mar-a-lago-security-fbi-investigation/

For a time, Anna de Rothschild boasted of her family roots to the European banking dynasty, donning designer clothes, a Rolex watch, and driving a $170,000 black Mercedes-Benz SUV.
...
A pivotal moment for the woman who was fluent in several languages took place last year when she was invited to Mar-a-Lago, where she mingled with former President Donald Trumps supporters and showed up the next day for a golf outing with Mr. Trump and Sen. Lindsey Graham among other political luminaries.

But the 33-year-old woman was not a member of the famous banking family, and is now a subject of a widening FBI investigation that has delved into her past financial activities and the events that led her to the former presidents home.

The issue is people are naive enough to think that just by voting for a democrat in a single election every 2/4 years is enough.

  • Vote in local elections to ensure your state is run by people you support.
  • Put pressure on politicians at all levels to support greater access to voting and more modern voting practices like rank choice voting.
  • Create ballot measures in state that will allow for greater access to voting and more representation of other political parties.
Right now in the US, third party voting is neither adequate nor appropriate. It's why you see republicans backing green party candidates in certain states to help dilute democratic candidates.

Yes, but but in this particular case the seller didn't approach him and make claims. And that's what makes this extra ridiculous - Twitter made numerous attempts to not sell the company to him, but ultimately failed when enough stockholders voted in favor of the sale. Twitter didn't have to make any promises because Musk pretty much dominated the entire process.

It's kind of like knocking on someone's door, saying you want to buy their house, initially they say no but then you offer double the value of the house so they say yes, then you later say it's unfair that you didn't mention the ugly vinyl floor.

Twitter, ironically, has a far, far stronger argument that it was misled into this agreement than Musk does.

Oh I 100% agree. I'm just trying to even show the Musk fanbois why their fantasy won't be a reality, but you're really doing it from the other angle too.

The deal was structured around loans against Tesla shares because he didn't want to sell them for many reasons.

He has over 10B in cash now. Just one of many options would be selling some of his SpaceX equity which would easily cover the rest.
The deal was structured on outside financing to support his purchase. Since the drop of the price market, that outside financing has disappeared leaving Musk responsible for most (or all) of the financing.

And for those still claiming that Twitter 'lied' about their bits, Twitter even admitted that their 5% number is not accurate. In order for Musk to claim that they were intentionally lying, they'd need that percentage to be so far off that wouldn't be explained by statistical analysis but directly lying about it.

How many representatives have competitive districts where they need to campaign? And while some certainly do, I do think hearings broadcast on major news networks where they speak eloquently help demonstrate their credentials to the masses.

2. Seriously doubt they are going to do much with the courts after the election.

Maybe not as high up as we'd like, but the DoJ has served up subpoenas and warrants for Jeffrey Clark and John Eastman which show movement at some level.

3. Canceling debts after holding out so long probably isn't going to win him much favor.

People have short memories. "What have you done for me lately?"

4. Democrats are historically horrible at messaging before elections, whilst Republicans are masters at riling up their base before an election. Hell Republicans have really started riling up their base already, whilst Democrats are barely doing anything.

That's an outdated view. The 2018 and 2020 election certainly showed Democrats getting riled up and voting for their candidates. More work can be done, and Republicans are certainly still better, but the gap isn't huge.

People find a a way, it is just that on a 51k salary your options become very limited and you almost certainly are not doing anything to prepare for your future with that amount.

Right, as my question was rhetorical. People are living on less than 100k a year in Boston. It may not be the most comfortable, but they're doing it. And I also know people in Boston paying 1500 or less for places near the T which would be 18,000 for the year. Using that one third number, that means their salary could be 54,000 and it would theoretically still be reasonable for them.
