Every cutscene and line of dialogue they showed in the trailer was lifted directly from OG Silent Hill 2. If they're going to FF7 Remake it, then they're hiding that very well.

Hopefully they'll preserve 90%+ of the storyline while giving the gameplay a huge makeover.

My biggest worry: aesthetic and atmosphere. Something about the PS2 "rusty" aesthetic gives SH2 character, and I'm worried that modern HD graphics will normalize things too much.

Scarface and White Heat continue to make Vegas rich, and I love it.

I remember liking it, though the story specifics have left me.

Scorsese's latest mobster flick, featuring a runtime that is dummy thicc even by his standards, and a cast of characters so old it probably involves more pairs of depends than I want to think about.

The titular protagonist is just extremely uninteresting to an extent that he feels like a supporting character in his own movie. Frank is seemingly just there to smile and wave and occasionally do the bidding of the more colorful underworld figures that surround him. He doesnt have the ambitious dreams of Tony Montana, the desire to avenge a transgression like Amsterdam Vallon, or anything else that would make for a compelling story.

Frank's lack of agency bothered the hell out of me the first time I watched it. Second time around, I was more forgiving of it (Frank/Hoffa is basically a Nick/Gatsby type of dynamic) but it still contributed to some of the pacing issues that others mentioned.

Inviso gets a HUGE payout for wagering on a HUUUUUGE movie. Have to say, I'm shocked the Irishman is the first Scorsese movie to drop.

It would be hard to sum this game up in a paragraph but just the themes, presentation and sheer scope of this game are incredible, with elements of fantasy, horror, & science-fiction forming a near perfect amalgamation. Leaves you with tons of stuff to chew on long after its over.

Might have to, ahem, obtain this one.

Agreed. Within the context of this project, The Untouchables was a breath of fresh air, and I think that's what boosted it into the top half of my rankings.

On the other hand, if you showed me this movie on any random day, I probably would've been like, "Eh. Decent movie. Nothing special."

Can't recommend this game enough. The gameplay is like a mix of Kingdom Hearts and Arkham City, and the story is surprisingly GREAT.

Also, top-tier OST.

Gotta say I'm happy that at least one black-and-white movie will survive the Bottom 10.

The moment I added The Untouchables to the odds list, it bowed out. Blame Vegas.

Yeah I suck at predicting from the jump, but this will get pretty tricky, with the top 12 or so going any number of ways.

There are about five movies that are absolute locks for the Top 10, but the rest could appear just about anywhere.

Lot of quality stuff on this list, and if you look at the scores Johnbobb posted, you'll see that most movies are separated from the next by less than ten points. There are no tiers or steep dropoffs or anything like that.

If I had a little more time, I would have given GN1 a re-watch (and subs, while I'm at it). I was pretty distracted with watching the movie. Admittedly, it would have only gotten so far, because I wasn't a major fan of the ending and ending matters a lot for me.

Ah, more evidence to you being my alt account. I watched every movie on this list with the subtitles on. It made a huge difference (especially with my re-watches) because this genre tends to throw around a ton of character and family names. It's much easier to follow everything if the names can be seen as well as heard.

Fully prepared to be disappointed.

At best we'll probably get rereleases of SH1-3 on modern consoles and PC. And SH2-3 will likely be the HD disaster versions.

Didn't make the connection to Clockwork Orange when I watched GN1. Also had no idea that GN1's protagonist was played by the same actor as Alex from Clockwork Orange. Mind = blown.

GN1 finally drops, and Poke and Vis get paid! We're hitting the stage of the rankings where things are much less predictable, so I'm raising the odds a bit.

Crazy how a few of us all compared GN1 to American Psycho. Even crazier when you consider that GN1 and AP (the movie version) released within two months of each other, which means AP couldn't have influenced GN1's script or production.

Would love to know if anyone involved with GN1 read the book version of AP.

I know what you mean... AG has that average, middle-of-the-road feel to it, but it was so average that it couldn't garner any Top 10 rankings.

Slevin was the definition of a love/hate movie, but the love was enough to save it from the Bottom 5.

Slevin is officially the new Terrifier--a fun, stupid movie that a few people loved (me included) and everyone else pegged as trash that didn't belong.

Everybody bet Gangster No. 1 and got Kansas City Shuffled out of their wagers. Starting to believe that Vegas has this thing rigged in GN1's favor.

Companies lie all the time because they receive zero repercussions and have fans to defend them. Hellena Taylor has much less reason to lie because going after a big company like this will torpedo her career.

I believe her, but I don't think she has a career to torpedo at this point. According to her IMDB page, her most recent acting credit is Smash 4.

I don't know the specifics of the contract, but I would guess that they lowballed her on purpose so she would pull out, leaving them open to pick Jennifer Hale as a bigger name.

That said, voice actors are typically treated like shit, and ones who dub over Japanese media in particular moreso. So I wouldn't be shocked if they just thought she was disposable because they don't care about the American version. I mean, we saw a Japanese developer replace Snake's voice actor who everyone thought was iconic. Why would another Japanese studio care about Bayo's American voice actor?

Yeah, this is odd. The more I think about it, I don't understand how signing Hale sells more copies of Bayo 3. I mean, what gamer is sitting there thinking, "Bayo 1 & 2 weren't my jam... Oh wait, Jennifer Hale is VAing the main character now? Day 1 buy!"

With MGS5, signing Kiefer Sutherland created some buzz because he was a big-name TV actor in the 2000s. Not saying Hayter should've been replaced (even with MGS5's plot twist being considered), but the Sutherland hiring likely got the attention of some people who initially didn't plan on buying MGS5.

Depends on the length on the script and how many takes are needed. Also, there's the question of whether she strictly voices the character or if she's involved in production/sound design work.

I don't think time is the issue, though. She's likely upset that the Bayonetta franchise is taking off, seeing rereleases, and she's not earning any royalties because she signed a flat-rate contract for the first two games.

Wow. $4,000 is insanely low.

For reference, I'm an indie author, and I paid an audiobook narrator $2,900 to read and produce my latest novel. The finished audiobook clocked in at just over 10 hours, so he got paid about $280 per finished hour, which was the terms of the contract. Many audio narrators charge north of $400/hour.

I have no idea what Taylor's contract looked like, but she should've been offered much more for voicing the lead in a AAA video game. Does anyone know what she got paid for Bayo 1 & 2? And Smash?

I got 2 hours into it and bailed. Battle system lacks fluidity, and the story/world didn't grab me. Yuri seems like a solid protagonist, but he can't carry the rest of the game on his back.

From what I've read, the gameplay improves about 20-30 hours in, but that's a long wait.

Shame the game was X360 exclusive back in its heyday. Might've been good at the time.

Kingdom Hearts and Metal Gear, without question.

Resident Evil also comes to mind for some reason. Probably because the rules and tone are often changing. Plus, you have consistently issues once sequels like RE0 come into play.

Gah, I stopped betting on Public Enemy only for it to go out. Then I switched to American Gangster, but didn't get it in on time. Ah well, there's still 25 more to go. I'll go with Gangster No. 1.

I thought American Gangster would last into the #23-18 range, but it's a pretty lukewarm movie, so I'm not surprised it didn't garner any Top 10 votes.

Caesar, BWHAH, and Italian Job all landed about where I expected. I had hoped The Public Enemy would survive into the low 20s (I personally loved it), but seeing it drop at #27 wasn't at all shocking.

The real surprise here is GN1 lasting this long. I thought most people would have it in their Bottom 10.
