After a car accident, a victim got out of their car and was nearby waiting for a tow truck. 2 cops roll up. A power pole had been hit and was now collapsing and making noise. 1 cop understood it was a pole and fled. His partner heard the crashing noise and thought it was gunfire. He shoots madly into the empty car from the accident AND tries to shoot the victim standing nearby. Luckily the victim was not hit. Later it was decided that this shooting was justified by the department. Apparently the rule is that a cop can shoot as long as in that exact moment, they think they are being attacked

I have a hard time believing that people didn't know anti-semitism existed prior to the Nazis. Literally any cursory study of European would tell you that the Jews have never had an easy lot there. All the Nazis did was take all the pogroms, prejudice, and repression to it's logical conclusion.

People in other countries might be aware of the full history, but I am not surprised many Americans would not know much about anything in Europe prior to ww2. Our education system is not that great, and lots of kids don't care about history

I love this kind of conversation. Its my favorite discussion. Not debunking bible shit but discussing the origins of tales and words and such. I wonder why they came up with these type of tales in the first place. It feels like some kind of folktale you'd need to keep hope up.

Cultures often like to come up with origin myths to explain how their civilization came to be. The Romans thought that their main city was built by 2 brothers who were raised by a wolf

The Irish have old legends about a series of wars fought over Ireland by multiple races of beings until the modern human Irish came into power. Cultures in ancient times had little to no way of knowing much of their past. And they wanted an explanation for their history. The stories were probably first created by either kings or priests, to satisfy the masses

The non biblical archeological theory is that the Hebrews were never even outside Israel. The whole journey to find a homeland never happened. Its believed that the Hebrews are the same people the Bible claims they conquered to gain Israel. They used to be pagan with many gods. At some point there was a culture shift and they changed to one god. Centuries later they probably wrote down mythical tales of their origins as a people. I don't believe Book of Exodus happened at all and yes, Moses probably never existed

People really need to learn what conservatism actually is. Of course they're opposed to democracy. Conservatism was born out of skepticism for the burgeoning liberal democracy, and we're talking about a liberal democracy which is appalling by today's standards, and a sympathy and nostalgia for the aristocracy and monarchy. If you care even one whit for democracy, you should be hostile to conservatism in your most generous of moments, and realize that whatever aspect of your political philosophy that prevented you from doing so in the first place was flawed.

I personally believe that all modern Republicans would have supported the British in the Revolutionary War. Despite how they claim to love America. Conservatives always support kings. The rebels were the liberals of the 1700s.

Europeans bought into the whole myth of Jesus being killed by Jews. Which never made sense to me. I have a personal theory that the original story was Romans ordered his execution and then later on when more and more Romans were becoming Christians, it got awkward so they changed the story and said the Jews did it

I had usually at least 1 good friend my entire childhood. We kept moving so it was hard but I managed to meet people in school. After highschool graduation I found it much harder to meet people and I lost touch with everyone I did know. I'm now 41, living in a different state than the one I went to highschool in, and I literally have no friends off the internet. I wouldn't even say I have internet friends. Apart from you guys, I only really talk to my family

There was more than 1 sequel. I think only the first sequel was in theaters but there were like up to 5 Urban Legend movies, I think they are all on Hulu. I've noticed them while browsing before
