Morrowind / Oblivion's approach to attributes and leveling is good in theory, but a counter-intuitive micromanaging hell in practice. I'd be lying if I said I missed them in Skyrim.

Redundancy is a big issue here - why bring Attributes back if they can be just as effectively represented by Skills / the main 3 stats (health / magicka / stamina)? Endurance, Intelligence, and Strength's functions are largely rendered moot by simply replacing them with direct magicka / stamina / health increases. Personality is damn-near useless to begin with, and better represented by the Speech / Barter skill anyway (granted a high Personality can render enemies non-hostile in Oblivion at least, but said Attribute has to be absurdly high to affect humanoids, undead, and daedra; this is something that can only be achieved with limited, borderline-exploitative spellcrafting, which is so esoteric that most people probably didn't even know it was possible). And lolololol the Luck stat.

Which leaves Willpower, Agility, and Speed. Willpower's a bit of an odd duck - it bizarrely governs about three more things than it ought to in Morrowind, yet only dictates magic regen in Oblivion. Agility and Speed's absence could largely be remedied by the return of a dedicated Athletics and Acrobatics skill trees.

Yeah Oblivion's leveling system was straight garbage and I don't see why anyone would want that back
