Yeah, they actually pick up the role and responsibilities of Santa for the year. That includes maintaining the list of naughty/nice people and distributing the appropriate gifts. Let me see if I saved some screenshots from their story events.

This. Unless I got spoiled already, at which case it's mostly based on base + final design, with more weight on the base design. Yeah, you may only see it for like 2 hours, but by the time it evolved into the final form, there's a much bigger pool of Pokemon to choose from anyway.

Easy or Hard

Do you take it easy or do you like it hard?

As for me, most of the time I go with Normal. I almost never pick Easy and I don't remember the last time I pick it... Well, unless for Melody of Memory I guess, since there are separate achievements for different difficulties. I also don't like too difficult challenges in my vidya but I've tried Hard once or twice if I find the game's too easy as is.

Oh I didn't see anything about that in my quick google search. That sounds like a pretty annoying gimmick though
Yeah, the levels had different objectives which provided more variety in gameplay. Though it can get pretty annoying!

As for Fairy Godmother Tycoon it was indeed surprisingly deep, with limited amount of money so you had to be smart in choosing which items stock. Then during the selling phase, it's real time, with the customers walking around town and you can choose where to put your promotional guys (like sandwich board imps, etc.) to divert the traffic. Good times.

I was a tween when I played Elebits and it was pretty fun! The infrared sensor wasn't really annoying (at least, the way I remember it), but the levels where you had to keep the volume down a certain threshold sure were hard since things are stacked on top of each other...

Previously each language has a bunch of different modules (for example "School", "Past Perfect", "Making a Plan", etc.). Each unit has several levels to them, and each level has several lessons. For example, you may need to do 4 lessons in "Past Perfect" to attain level 1, do 4 more to get to level 2, and so on.

The units are also categorized to different levels depending on how advanced the material is.

Parallel to that, there are stories that we can read and answer several questions throughout (usually relating to vocabulary, listening comprehension, and reading comprehension rather than grammar).
So there's some freedom in which unit you want to tackle first.

Now the learning path is designed linearly like FF XIII.

https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/a/user_image/3/4/2/AAMZFVAAD4IW.jpg

This also comes after their push for monetization with Duolingo Super or whatever.

I find the monetization changes a bit annoying, especially since we can't skip a level by taking a test. And, yeah, ads. I guess they need to make money somehow but it'll take some time getting used to. And the subscription price is pretty expensive as well.

And other Duolingo user here? What do you think of the recent changes?
