To me, "straight" is just a term that basically meant you gravitate toward the opposite sex for relationship partners; that's how it was taught to me when I was introduced to the term (possibly because it was at a young enough age that they didn't want to explicitly mention the whole heterosexuality thing, now that I think about it) so it's what makes the most sense to me. People seem to regard it as synonymous with heterosexuality, but I've never felt like they meant entirely the same thing. I don't regard myself as heterosexual, but I do regard myself as straight.

Again, I don't understand what the difference is supposed to be. If I found someone "attractive", that means I'm attracted to them. If I wasn't attracted to them, I wouldn't say they were attractive. That seems pretty straightforward to me.

I've regarded myself as straight because I am capable of attraction to the opposite sex (even if it isn't sexual in nature). If I experienced this same sort of feeling toward people of my own sex, I personally wouldn't find "straight" to be an accurate descriptor of myself anymore and I would be compelled to use a different label. That doesn't mean anyone else has to follow suit... that's just how I view things for myself.

How is pointing out that I don't find men to be attractive "being difficult"? Is it some requirement for straight men to find another man/men attractive? If so, that seems like a strange requirement to me.

Why didn't they just unhide Poke Transporter on the eShop?

Basically Poke Transporter is considered DLC, and DLC typically isn't accessible on the eshop normally; it's all accessed in-game (even if it brings you to the eshop to do so). I can only guess that they didn't want to risk people getting DLC for games they didn't have, finding out the DLC didn't do anything without the game it's a part of, and then having to deal with those people wanting to refund it as a result.

This was actually a major aggravating point for The Completionist (in general, not just specifically the Poke Transporter thing) when he was trying to assemble a full collection of everything off of the eshop.

I hate autosaving anyway and always disable it if a game lets me, so sure?

The one exception I'm mostly okay with are autosaves that are kept separate from manual saves.

32gb is the highest size that's officially supported, but bigger cards work just fine if they are formatted properly (basically you must format the card back to FAT32 instead of exFAT; the Switch can use exFAT, but on the 3DS it is a no-go)

I've heard of two additional recommendations:
1) Don't go above 128gb; you will start running into load time issues
2) Changing the allocation unit size when formatting the card to 64kb from the default 32kb may help with performance/load issues... or it may make them worse. This seems to depend on the card; also seems like 128gb cards are more likely to benefit from the change than 64gb cards are. If you run into issues with one size, it may be worth trying the other before writing the card off.

I dont tend to go in on the Cyric bandwagon as his heart is in the right place but (assuming Im reading it right) this whole - if you dont boycott Hogwarts you arent a true trans ally - train of though is something I dont agree with. Especially as has been pointed out we have people in the trans community who play it.

Being trans doesn't automatically make you a trans ally or immune to being a bigot. Plenty of LGBTQ+ people hate on and segregate each other, for instance.

As an asexual, definitely have seen the whole "not queer enough" argument get used against us.

All sorts of adblockers, whether built into the browser, as add-ons, or in the form of DNS services. Sure, we all use them, but they take away any control the site owner has over the site. Eventually we get to the point where a vicious cycle begins, in order to pay for the server infrastructure you are forced to place more and more ads, then users fire up more and more adblockers and we get to a point like today.

As someone dealing with depression, remember that "should" is the real S-word. Any time you notice yourself saying/thinking that word, be mindful of everything else included in its sentence. Chances are very good it's an unrealistic expectation, a sweeping statement, or other sort of intrusive thought that simply can't be applied to everyone in every situation.

All these "should" statements ever do is make you ask yourself why you aren't happy (even though you "should" be happy), which ironically is only going to make you feel more unhappy. Throw these statements in the bin.

IDK, but in what little I've dabbled in of the Pokemon TCG (that is, the Game Boy game), I remember feeling the same way about the Bill trainer card, which does literally the exact same thing as this. Putting 4 Bills into the deck (the max it allows) was practically a given for me.

I've personally not noticed this sort of problem, honestly. If the DLC is really "heavy" enough, it's probably out there somewhere. If it's not, it was probably garbage DLC anyway.

There's like eighty gazillion ways of accessing Dragon Quest 9's DLC following the shutdown of its online server, for instance. Granted, it's aided by the fact this DLC is already packaged in the game and just "locked" until it's made accessible, but the fact remains that all of those methods were developed due to the fact that people know it is a very heavy DLC game.

Played Snap, Paper Mario, Star Fox, Perfect Dark, and DKR. I'm in the clear.

it's worth noting that I didn't even mention the word "ally" until this post, but now that you bring it up, this is my thought process:

in my mind, a significant part of being an ally to a group -- certainly a necessary prerequisite for allyship -- requires that people from that group trust you.

not purchasing something that you may or may not enjoy is a very, very easy thing to do. it requires zero effort and zero risk on your part (which is actually less than what's required to purchase it).

there are many other things that, in my mind, anyone who calls themselves an ally should do. some of them entail significant risk to the ally. for example, if state laws are being used to criminalize being trans in public, anyone calling themselves a "trans ally" should be willing to lie to the police, and hide a trans person, to protect them.

now, if a trans person cannot trust you to do something that entails no effort and no risk, how can they be expected to trust you in a situation that entails significant effort and significant risk?

From Software has shown us they understand what is at the heart of Zelda more than Nintendo does.

Having played both of the games you're referring to (and not particularly enjoying them), I don't think either of them do, to be quite honest.

Link's Awakening is more meaningful to me due to the period of my life it occupied (I was in the midst of a major move IRL), but LttP is objectively the fuller Zelda experience in comparison. There's just more of everything, more secrets to discover, and it feels more complete. LA still isn't bad by any means, though.

If anything I'm over most "modern" video games. So many these days are all style but little to no substance.

There's so many instances nowadays where I find myself asking "why didn't they just make this a movie?" which is something that was pretty much never said back in the NES, SNES, etc eras.

This is the very reason why I'm not that keen on "modern" Final Fantasy.

Geno WAS added to Smash, though. (Just not in the way anyone was hoping for, but that already puts it at a level above the level of SMRPG's availability on VC.)

Considering the one time I went to a church since the pandemic started (which wasn't even for anything churchy-related; it was the venue for a Halifax Jazz Festival performance) ended up with me getting covid for the first and so far only time, I'm not surprised really.

Ever since I realized how much dialog I either miss or misunderstand when I don't use them, I always use them nowadays.

I'm not much of a TV/movie watcher, though. I prefer video gaming.
