I've had a 7 game lose streak. Usually losing by one power or just not getting any cards I can actually use, or the winning card.

Feels bad considering my previous wins all came from having decently good luck.

First and best live action portrayal of Jason Todd too. I really hope they ask him back for Jason/Red Hood eventually. Curran Walters was brilliant as him. But he's already 25, so he unfortunately may be aging out of it.

I think youre right that we have to agree to disagree. I see what youre saying for Joker, but I just cant see it in Thanos. He always came across to me as an unlikeable idiot who just happened to be very powerful.

Magneto is easily a more compelling character than Thanos, and if the introduction of the Xmen is done right it could revitalize the entire MCU. But I have zero faith in it as of right now and I think they're gonna fumble big time.

In the comics, sure. Thanos is terrible in the comics.

But in the movies? Thanos is fantastic. And Magneto could be too! But I don't see him being an immediately huge threat so quickly.

I disagree wholeheartedly. Im not sure where you get the impression hes well written or has a decent motive. Hes as deep as a puddle. Also, I wouldnt even put No Way Home in the top half of the MCU.

Genuine question, what was so good about Thanos in Infinity War? I mean, he was a perfectly serviceable device to move the plot forward and was a credible threat, but his motivations still seem laughable to me. I just dont see any depth to him at all, which isnt inherently terrible in a comic book film, but I dont see why some people like him so much.

He was charismatic, made people believe in what bullshit he was trying to peddle. He's obviously insane, as is his motivations. A lot of people think villains need to make sense, but...honestly? They don't. A good villain can make sense and give the protagonist a reason to doubt themselves. A great villain will make others follow him, make viewers question the heroes, even though his motivations and his reasons for doing so are absolutely inane and nonsense.

He's a cult of personality in of himself. He does all these evil things, he's an evil man, but he's so forthright in his conviction that you can't help but wonder if he's right. You see things though his eyes, he's right in his own mind. He's got personality and charm, and it pushes his motivations to a level where you can actually see why people follow him.

Shit, Joker is another example. Joker's motivations make no sense whatsoever. In TDK, he is literally just...causing Chaos. His end goal is to die at Batman's hands. He will not see the fruits of his labor. But people love him because he has that charisma that pulls you in. Sure, his plan doesn't make sense. But it doesn't have to. He doesn't have to.

It's a compelling watch. And Thanos, imho, is a well written villain. For that reason and more.

Disagree. I think he was well written, and his writing resulted in the best MCU movie that isn't No Way Home.

Kang is interesting, but considering what happened in Quantumania...how exactly are we supposed to think of him as a threat? This was a dude a council of Kanga sent away, he was serious business. And Ant-Man beat him.

Now they're probably gonna replace Majors due to this whole scandal.

I feel like enchantress is worth carrying if sandman really screws you up. She's also a nice tech card for things like Patriot and Cerebro, so it's rarely a bad idea to have her unless you're running a bunch of ongoing effects too.

Honestly, the only Ongoings that matter are Knull, the Soul stone, and the Power stone. And Cosmo. But I can work around the first 3, and the 4th I can just he careful with.

I like the concept. Mixing Thanos and Galactus can really play with somebody's head, I'll bet. Lots of value, board space management, and multiple branches of win conditions. Feels like it should be pretty strong, to me.

I edited my post but the only replacement I'm considering is Hood. I could go with Venom, Shang-Chi, or Yondu to keep up destroys...eh. Still deciding on that.

Stones give me constant card generation so I'm usually getting my fill of cards, Wave gives me an oh shit! Situation where I can get an early six or the optimal triple play. Cosmo gives me a way to stop Wong combos and the like. Wolverine and Galactus give me an instant win(if the opponent doesn't have Nimrod or Wolverine themselves) on Death Altar, Death's Domain, or Rickety Bridge. Stones themselves are lovely. Thanos is always a good final card play, as is Knull. Killmonger gives full board clears(and more power for Knull). Carnage gives lane clear. Hood gives me a 6 power high value demon...

Hood is replaceable but other than that this seems like the best possible deck I can do. I could remove Galactus, but every time I play him he has gotten me wins.

Thoughts?

Edit: Hood I could replace with Venom, Yondu, or Shang-Chi. Maybe even Leader. I'm unsure yet.

I'm pretty pleased with the balance changes in this last patch. Makes Leech a tiny bit easier to play around, makes leader somewhat playable again without being ridiculous, makes shuri a bit less obnoxious... she's still way too strong, but at least you know where to Shang Chi now.

Also, I got Valkyrie. I'm thinking maybe I'll throw her and absorbing man into a Thanos deck and really mess with people.

I've felt like Leader...idk, he still feels extremely strong. Sandman ramp Leader into Odin is almost game breakingly good. Idk, I'm not a fan of Leader as a concept in general. He basically is a free tie in a specific area and shuts down any turn 6 plays, unless said play is something that changes after reveal.

Also this dude snapped and telegraphed the most obvious Galactus I've ever seen in my life.

Honestly, I've been getting a bad string of no cubes lol. Just been getting lucky because everyone's running leader atm and snaps not realizing you don't copy Thanos's power with the power stone, and that the card summoned by Leader doesn't actually benefit from played locations like Shuri's lab.

Weird balance and pricing aside, the game is very well made. Ben Brode has proven without a doubt that he knows what makes card games fun.

To be fair, I feel like the balancing is pretty good. Not perfect, but you can't really expect that. And the game is, like you said, fun. So addicting!

Destroy decks are also way way way fun imho. There's a reason I run 3 of them. Lot of risk and reward, a ton of characters I like(Death, Deadpool, Wolverine, Carnage, Venom) and cool animations to play alongside them, then you add in the fact that there's not a ton of RNG(unless your opponent is involved) and you need to predict or work around your opponent's board...I love it lol.
