Usually the higher you go the more you get? MD is so backwards sometimes.

They mean that Platinum and Diamond get 50 and 100 extra gems per rank, compared to their old values. So you do get more the higher you go. If nothing else, you only have to get to Diamond 4 to end up with the same amount of gems you would've gotten for getting all the way to max earlier.

Old Plat V -> Dia 1: 1200 gems
New Plat V -> Dia 4: 1350 gems

Hell you can stop at Diamond 5 and only miss out on 50 gems >__>

Idk maybe it's better now, I used to drive for them and they price gouge the absolute shit out of stuff and constantly have weird conflicts with the store about what's actually on the menu. I think of it in terms of piracy. When TheHyliaAnime shut down I don't think there was a mass rush of former users buying dvd sets of the shows they no longer had access to or signing up for Crunchyroll. Unless moochers are really invested in what Netflix is offering they may just adapt to not having it anymore.

Now granted I'm sure there will be enough new subs that it won't be a totally wasted effort, but at this point Netflix is trying to squeeze blood from a stone. They should be looking into other ways to make revenue besides streaming subscriptions, if they haven't already lol.

As much as I would love the extra ~700 gems each month, Diamond is just too stressful, and once you get there, the selection of decks you can play and still see success plummets. Still a great change for competitive players, but Ima stay in Gold.

If Konami had more ladder options besides vanilla ranked I'd probably climb to diamond more often. There's so much dead menu space on the ladder there should always be at least one or two alternative formats available, even if they don't come with any extra gems besides your basic pass and mission progress.
