They really don't give a shit about actually stopping anyone. And since they don't want to put any effort into upping loss prevention presence or even allowing them to put their hands on people, they expect all the other floor associates to "help reduce theft" by "providing customer service", which basically means they want us to treat worthless thieves like normal like anyone else with the expectation that they'll get nervous and try to leave at which *ideally* the loss prevention guys would take care of it from there. But that's fucking stupid. They make all this stink about not outwardly confronting thieves or putting your well-being at risk for the sake of stopping theft, but oh yeah by all means waste your time and dignity pretending to deliver customer service, that's better. How about you mf's just hire more loss prevention and allow them to physically restrain people again? I'm so tired of all these damn companies being so terrified of lawsuits.
