Kids had a great day, Hot Wheels mania in here today, my eldest ran around pinging as many things as possible with his new Sabrewing Minecraft bow and we played the child version of Cards Against Humanity called "Kids Against Maturity".

Wasn't enough time in the day for my kids to do everything they wanted before they passed out though lol.

Oh, Christmas dinner was sublime too and my wife makes a great cheesecake.

Hope everyone is having / had a pleasant time.

Doesn't matter if I wouldn't be caught, I'd still know and that's enough for me to not want to do something like that.

Can't go wrong with Dragon's Dogma. May not have the best open world but it makes up for that with a great soundtrack, fantastic ARPG combat and a unique party / pawn sharing system which I'm surprised hasn't really been replicated since?

A lot of people have talked about the generational divide in TV. Millennials and older generations had to watch the movies and shows that were available when they were available. This created a collective sense of pop culture stretching as far back as TV would replay or reference.

Zoomers and younger don't rely on TV and instead access most of their entertainment at will. They don't rewatch episodes of The Simpsons hundreds of times because they don't have to. So they're generally less aware of past pop culture.
Though, they're probably more connected to a wide variety of generations of music because musical trends on TikTok shift so rapidly. Jimmy Urine mentioned that MSI is definitely more popular now than it was 20 years ago.

This makes me laugh because my kids despite having access to Netflix, Disney and Prime, legitimately rematch things again and again and again.

I spoke my eldest about it and how it made me laugh, seeing him with all this choice doing what I did as a kid, that had to watch whatever was on lol.

There isn't any attempt at compromise from her though, so it could be argued that both are being selfish and your bias is aligning with his partner for whatever reason, enough to belittle him for behaviour that should could also be belittled for, unless of course you lack consistency.

Ultimately this is a silly conversation.

It isn't us TC that you should be looking for validation for. In the event that this relationship is real, speak to her and work out a compromise that works for both of you as opposed to looking for validation from strangers.

The transition to Iron Keep is indefensible and anyone beating their head against that wall should stop.

I wonder if the video was made by HBomberGuy, I know he made an "in defense of DS2" video which served as a pseudo-response to Matosis' take, but it's been a while since I watched. I don't normally watch takes defending DS2, I'm aware of and understand the complaints and like the game anyway, don't need random guys on the net to validate or justify my own take on it.

I have an embarrasing number of hours on both the first and second game via Android to be honest. My usual go-to whenever we took trips to the hospital during both of my wife's pregnancies, when I wasn't needed for anything.

Good little games. Hope you enjoy that one. Think I sent over the version with the DLCs / extras, unless I made a mistake. I don't think I ever actually bought Here Be Dragons, so hopefully it's a nice addition.

Saving Private Ryan.

The ending really drove home the significance of the sacrifices made, why they were made and whether the person in question was deserving of said sacrifice. There is no glorification of war and the focus is solely on the characters.

It's one of very few movies to move me emotionally as I don't respond to movies or media like that very often, but it hits a sweet spot for me that it likely doesn't for other people.

There can easily be an argument made for movies that are objectively more miserable than the likes of SPR, but I go by what moves me personally, and SPR was it.

Tied closely with The Green Mile. Another shout out to the likes of Warrior, which I felt was quite an emotional film.

Bloodborne > Dark Souls > Elden Ring > Dark Souls 2 > Sekiro > Dark Souls 3

None of them are bad, the lowest on the list are simply the ones I enjoyed the least.

I've only played Demon's Souls the once during a period where I borrowed a PS3 and haven't played the reboot, so I don't feel confident ranking it compared to the rest when they've been played extensively in comparison.

It's quite funny you mention RDR2 actually because I love all of the small things to do in the open world.

The narrative whilst good is very restrictive gameplay wise so it was nice to immerse myself in the smaller things whilst playing, not out of obligation for % but simply because I wanted to.

I wasn't sold on Gwent during my first run but I adored it on the second.

If she's with you tomorrow in the morning, I'm not sure I understand the need to open them today.

As mentioned already, the best compromise that could meet both of your needs is to open some smaller presents today and save the bigger ones for tomorrow.

They're great.

I think the best way to describe them is that they're built very tall as opposed to wide, so there's an awful lot to do without having to traverse a massive map with a lot of wasted space.

They know how and when to be funny and then shift to serious too with the narrative.

Yakuza games are worth every penny.

Yet to try Like a Dragon though.

I feel like you are challenging me snyklare :P I spent 11 dollars on the last game I felt was on a deep sale and I am into it, but it's normally 60.....

I guess as an example Monark sounds like a game I should be into but it doesn't sound fun to play. I think Soul Hackers 2 would be up my jam, but I just decided to pass on that for awhile because I had other games......Also there is this weird this isn't really Soul Hackers 2!!! Like seriously how many people played Soul Hackers 1. The internet is more crazier. It was never meant to be a true sequel but there is outrage about that.

Had honestly never heard of Monark until you'd mentioned it. Just checked it out, quite liked the music in the trailer, not entirely sure it's my thing though. As for Soul Hackers, a few people I know didn't talk too positively of it. Not to say it's bad, but their responses to it were very middling I suppose. One anime-title I was always interested in personally but never bit the bullet on was that Scarlet Nexus? Just never get around to it and would find it hard to replace games in my rotation with it.

Thanks mate. I have picked it up on Epic'c launcher. I have quite the collection there yet I have only tried to play 1 game on it, but having to install other software to get my DualSense controller to work on it is a big turn off.

Understandable on having extra software for DualSense. It's actually quite rare that I use EGS myself. Launcher is a bit too sluggish for me, though I did break my usual mantra with EGS and ended up buying a game on there a little while back. Picked up Salt & Sacrifice as it's not on Steam.

Maybe I should use EGS more, building up quite the little backlog on there lol.

Customisation of your profile.

Backgrounds, avatars, avatar frames, coloured themes etc. I like that my purchases allow me to customise my profile, but yes it'd be nice to be able to use excess points for things like discounts or further discounts on things, maybe gift smaller titles to other people.

I think the economy around points would have to be reworked though, It's not too hard to come buy them just by buying stuff regularly or gifting your mates.

One to consider that does go on sale that I very much enjoy is Satisfactory. Very good game.

I've heard nothing but good things about Factorio though and have friends that prefer it to Satisfactory.

RIP your free time though indeed! The dopamine injections I had from Satisfactory once you set things up just right and see the end result of your work is something else. I imagine it'll be the same, potentially even better in Factorio.

I'll shoot a few recommendations for people to potentially add to their lists. Early Access games however, as I like to support more indie projects as opposed to AAA these days. Figured this would be a nice / productive way to bump on my end.

Wartales - 23.99

Similar to Battle Brothers (Which I very much love and even ran a campaign for last gifting event, comprised entirely of CE peeps), you'll see yourself running a mercenary company across a large map and attempting to grow, feed, improve, bolster and nurture that company. You'll deal with petty squabbles, fish, gather resources, fight, survive and more. Think medieval XCOM, It's a very, very good game, though still in Early Access, many aspects very much feel finished and co-op was recently introduced. I feel Battle Brothers is the better game on a personal level and it also has random gen to rely on for replayability over Wartales, but still, a very good game.

Project Zomboid - 10.37

In my honest opinion, probably the best survival game available on the platform right now, especially if you like zombies. Very punishing and brutal but widly addtictive, the sheer amount of depth to Zomboid is something else. Not only is the base game very good and customisable from a difficulty and world altering perspective, but you have the Steam Workshop to fall back on as well which is filled to the brim with very talented individuals which can and will expand upon and improve the game for you in a myriad of ways. One of my favourite games of all time, can't wait for the end product.

Dinkum - 11.99

Animal Crossing meets Stardew Valley, more or less. Graphically and mechincally, very much on the same wave-length as AC but set in Australia. It's a charming, endearing little game worth looking into. It does need some quality of life improvements however and to my knowledge, is made by a single guy, so patience is key with this one.

Motortown : Behind the Wheel - 10.25

If you like American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator, this one is an easy plug. Essentially, if you like the idea of tuning out and just driving, doing various types of jobs associated with driving, all whilst grinding to earn new vehicles for more jobs to make more pay and then tuning up your cars, this'll go down a treat. It seems to be coming along quite nicely and the community in my experience is quite friendly / relaxed should you ever go into an online lobby to muck around and socialise. Cars feel very good to drive in this game, solid weight to them too, satisfying indeed.

They're in for a rude awakening, but let them carry on.
