I'm a big Trails fan too, though CS2 is seen by many as a nadir of the series (I still liked it), so maybe worth pushing through? CS3 is really really good

i left off sending boxes home until the day before my flight

and then on that day it started raining hard while I was walking to the post office and they got too soaked to send

so the next day i had to leave my dorm with all my stuff plus my boxes for shipping, wait at the post office until it's opening time, then quickly rush to my flight which I almost missed

oh it's definitely possible, but you have to skip a ton of optional content..... in a game that prided itself on its Active Time Events

I used to default to Hard, but these days I'd tend more toward whatever Medium is.

I prefer when the difficulties are more descriptive, though.

"Hard: This is balanced for people who have played games in this series." okay I'll play Hard

"Hard: This is for people with something to prove. This difficulty will make you wish you were being waterboarded instead" yeaaaahhhh I'm good on normal or whatever lol

This is an interesting idea but I'm having a hard time coming up with a good answer

I think I would definitely lean toward side quests that are physically hard or impossible to do (for some people)? Surely there's something that doesn't respect colorblind people. I know I was never able to do the lightning bolt thing in Final Fantasy X because my reaction speed just wasn't physically fast enough, and surely people with motor issues ran into that problem there and with other side quests.

I might be projecting here so I apologize if that's the case, but I feel like there used to be a prevailing unhealthy sense of social tiers here. Sometimes this was played for laughs, sure, but then for some people and some times it got really serious and feelings were hurt.

On the flip side, does anybody remember the contests Ed Bellis put on that encouraged the participants to do things? Sometimes artistic, sometimes just wastes of time. I think I actually wrote my first FAQ for this site thanks to one of those little contests.

man, this is tough. I really enjoyed both san andreas and psychonauts, in totally different ways. Both of them were also held up by REALLY FRUSTRATING gameplay sometimes, too.

I'm at that point before Mettalurgy/combustion/mechanization but since it's the 4th run, I actually have the science for it before the blueprints for it. I could shut everything else down and rush those blueprints but I'm gonna take it a little slower and build a big base

If a company is losing 4 million dollars per day or whatever it was, people not doing anything (or better yet, people dumb enough to go online and BRAG about not doing anything) get laid off.

My best guess is Twitter will eventually get smaller, but way more exclusive. Wont happen any time soon though because the site is quite literally being flooded with new users.

One confirmed case back in April. I've been constantly sick over the last like two months though and can't tell if it's more covid or just me working in a school where there are perpetually sick teenagers surrounding me on a daily basis.

My case was so mild though that during my two days off I put in 10 hour workdays of planning and marking, and then a month later caught a cold that was confirmed not covid that had me bedridden for half a week.

as a fellow teacher, the germ factories we teach sure doesn't make this any easier. Right now the teacher that sits next to me in the teachers room is out with covid as well has 1/3 of the other teachers and a bunch of students, too! Fun!

but yeah I used to have a super healthy immune system, very very rarely got sick at all. Since my first bout with covid in 2020 that has completely changed and I swear the days where I'm at 100% are the minority. I just get hit with colds or whatever else so much more often, and harder than before.

well, i can always go back to japan if I need to. I have a lot of connections and experience now and I know for sure the company I'm with now would hire me back in a second. They're so sad to see me go.

Dying? Daily active users are flying up past 250 million, which is a massive upward trend from where it was, and all the lazy weirdos with bloated salaries are being fired so those who do actual work can get promoted.

Seven years is a long time. I think most people leave within 3-5 years or end up staying forever. It'll probably be hard to adjust to life in the US again, not to mention moving to the opposite coast (I'm assuming you're from California). I hope it all works out for you though!

I'm from Illinois, but my mom has moved out to Cali in the time I've been gone. So I'll stay with her for a few months.

I really try my hardest not to work any unpaid overtime, so just my normal 8am to 6pm. But sometimes there's just too much to get done before some big event, or observation class, or whatever. So yeah, long hours happens.

I thought about moving to Japan or Korea since I used to have an IT job where my coworkers lived in Korea/China (and there was a Japanese department that needed to hire someone), but being a trans foreigner who is pre-everything sounds not fun especially compared to California so I don't envy you. Good luck on your move and moving in with your partner.

well, I can give you some advice if you do go that route! I was only like 3 months on hormones when I moved, so I basically had to start everything over again in Japan

All in all, how do you like your experience there? A friend of mine also moved to Japan like 3 months ago for a teaching job.

definitely was the right thing for me. it was a dream come true. But dreams end... and teaching is a dead end over here. I'm a full time classroom teacher (not an assistant anymore) and I still earn less than I did 6 years ago, PLUS the yen is in the garbage right now so I might not even break $20,000 this year. It's just not sustainable for teachers.

as for covid, an unconfirmed "once" in February of 2020, before it was "officially" in the U.S. Had all the scary symptoms (high fever, chest pain, difficulty breathing, loss of taste/smell). Tested negative for flu. I remember asking the doctor if it could be "that disease in China" and he laughed at me.

I can't fathom why else I wouldn't have gotten it again since if I didn't have some kind of immunity.

yeah my first time was also in like very early march 2020 and Japan was NOT ready to accept it was in the country, so it was "just a flu"

Also how are your masking habits? I've heard America doesn't mask anymore which just seems impossible to me. Will I be the only person wearing a mask when I move back?

I've had the big C three times, and the experience was pretty different each time. It sucks! And that's not to mention all the permanent (seemingly) effects it's had on me, though idk if it's bad enough to call it Long Covid.

Wow you're still doing this platinum thing huh! that's awesome. What are some of the most memorable, for better or worse, platinums you've done?

I think the only game I've ever reached 100% achievements with is Celeste (which I actually did twice, since it added more when Farewell was added)

I really enjoyed The Majestic but I haven't gone back to it since I watched it

but The Truman Show remains phenomenal no matter how many times I see it
