Anyone else play God of War Ragnarok enjoy the hell out of it but also feel it was...dated?

Like it really felt like a last gen game. More or less the same game as the first one but with a new story.

My expectations are probably unfair. Not every game has to be revolutionary or anything. But there were a number of things in GOWR that made me go...uh, not more of this stuff.

And before it does happen, yes - it's good to try and be better and do better things. I'm not saying don't try because you can't be perfect.

If you want to support a thing you care about and is important to you, that's admirable and good.

But if you're spending your energy trying to "out" people who aren't also actively protesting it with you to the point of bullying them online then I gotta ask, look at your fucking life. Look at your amazon prime membership, your iPhone, your H&M t shirt, your obsession with cheese, your voting habits, your uber eats history. Look at more or less any of the things in your house that you didn't make yourself.

If you want to make the argument that putting money in the hands of rich evil people makes you a bad person then I have some really bad news for you about the dystopia we live in.

I loved oblivion but come on

I won't be upset but it would be clearly wrong. The game looks good, maybe even great, but definitely not GOTY.

People think they're being sweet when they say this but it's always come across as wildly toxic to me

I'm fine with it. Mostly I'm amazed that game prices have hardly risen in years.

You can say that wasn't the strict intention of the mods to create that message, and maybe it wasn't, but this is the stance GameFAQs broadcasts with these decisions. Choosing to ban a vulnerable member at a time when they feel threatened by a major discourse in gaming rather than choosing a purg for example was the wrong move.

What annoyed me is that slytherin never had a redemption arc, and we are left to just think that it anyone who is a slytherin is somewhere on the scale of universally evil.

once you get used to the mechanics, it's pretty fun, but if you're also interested in the story, in relation to the rest of the series, it feels somewhat "unnecessary" due to its being incomplete and being awkwardly placed as the last game in the series.

I've completely given up on trying to understand the story in metal gear solid. I enjoy the weirdness of it all though.

Maybe I just need to get acquainted with it better. Had some newer shinier toys to play with that distracted me I think.

I tried to give this game a bash but was put off a little bit by how convoluted the gameplay is. Felt like I had to do a 6 input button sequence just to crawl over and shoot someone at times.

Completely bizarre. They've been looking for this girl for a few days and then they found the suspect. I was tuning out the office conversation and then I overheard something and I jumped up. "What, fucking Andy Miller? Mince?"

So like, for 30 years everyone called this guy (guy at the time, we'll get back to that) Mince. Mince was known for stealing women's clothes from people's lines, crossdressing in small country town bars and hitting on everyone at the locals and being banned from service.

When I say small town I mean like 1500 people. Everyone knows everyone. So I guess crossdressing and turning up at the King's Arms in the early 2000s was always the talk of the town. But putting that aside, no one liked Mince. A general oddball.

The story gets more complicated because 6 years ago they transitioned, and now the papers/police can't figure out how to refer to them. I guess because they self-IDd, and there's been a big row about this in scotland lately.

I suspect the fact they are trans will be the entire story now, but I guess it's good that they found the girl. But jesus fuck you never expect someone you know to be a literal child predator.

It's kids books. Nuance and moral ambiguity aren't really a thing in that market.

The annoying thing is that nuance in morality is a consistent theme in the books. Like right from book 1 Harry is teased about being a natural slytherin, and then right there in the epilogue he tells his kid that it's ok to be slytherin because "albus severus dumbledore ginny hermione tonks snape lupin potter, the best and the bravest men i ever met were slytherin" or whatever. Throughout the books there's lot of "fighting your worse nature type" stuff.

So since it's established it just feels like a miss on a part of the writing.

It would have helped if we had met even just one unambiguously good Slytherin. But we don't. Closest we ever get is Slughorn, and he's still an elitist asshole to most people.

I always imagined there was potential for draco or some other slytherin to join the trio and battle with a kind of romeo and juliet story dynamic, but i guess that would have been a whole book series in itself.

I mean I was kind of expecting that there'd be some lesson in there about how it's not the house, it's the individuals, and that being ambitious is not inherently bad. But nope. The whole damn lot just continued to be universally evil until they were locked in the dungeon.

It felt like some weird kind of...racism? Or some kind of discrimination of some sort. "look these are just bad people, no question".

Thinking of trading in my ps4 pro. I believe everything is compatible so I can keep my games, etc.

It's just not really a replayable or lengthy game. I really enjoyed my playthrough but I have no desire to go and play it again, or go around collecting every item or whatever.

With arguments like this why do you only take into account the rules of one universe and not the other?

Because 1) it's a more fun theory than "kira writes his name and he dies" and 2) kira is not omnipotent in his universe, but in saitama's universe he IS omnipotent (at least, as far as we can tell).

Kira was taken down by a couple of precocious kids and a bumbling detective. Saitama hasn't even beem remotely harmed by the greatest beings in the universe.

Therefore, saitama wins.

My dude, first of all I can't iterate enough how much I do not have strong feelings about this. I'll probably pick it up if it's good, if it's not I won't. I know it's fun to think about people losing their minds over a harry potter game but if you ask me, those people need to touch grass.

What I'm saying though is that the overall tone and the amount of criticisms he levelled at the game didn't suggest a 9 out of 10 to me. I was expecting a charitable 8 based on his commentary, but probably more of a 7 if we're being honest.

The ign review of this game is absolutely hilarious. Spends the entire review taking about major issues and flaws with it then turns around and gives a 9/10.

That was my takeaway too. Like the tone of the review was "this is pretty good but janky and a little underwhelming, let's give it a near perfect score".

Anyway I don't much care for all the nonsense. Just gonna see what independent reviewers say after actually playing it.

I used to be down with that guy but man, dunno what happened in the past few years. He's one angry dude.

No because in order for the death note to work you need to clearly imagine the person's face in your head and saitama is so non-descript looking that everyone forgets who he is anyway

Honestly I feel like this is actually how it would play out in the OPM universe. Saitama immune because kira can't remember who he is.
