Probably gonna adopt a kitten later on this year so she's not bored out of her mind when I'm at the office. I think she's gotten bored with all of the different methods of play I've tried and all of the toys she has, and she refuses to go outside on a leash or in her stroller so yeah I've got nothing. My parents had a dog duo and they were attached at the hip at all times, so I'm just gonna hope that they get along when it happens

Interviewed for a PhD level research position at Google and instead it was programming questions for gmail. Pretty sure that with three CS degrees I can program something after living on stackoverflow just like everyone else, but optimizing some kind of email sorting (forgot the details it was 7 years ago) was one of the last things on my mind.

So it goes without saying that I bombed it hard and I've been ignoring LinkedIn or random email requests to interview with them again pretty much every other month since then. Edit: Actually haven't gotten a request since they went through those massive layoffs.

Yeah I started undergrad at Bama in 2006, the year before Saban was hired. Visited again in 2013 and the campus looked completely different. New buildings everywhere, a lot of new dorms, and the admission requirements increased significantly where I probably wouldn't have been able to get the same full ride scholarship I got in 2006. I remember browsing some stats page on the school website around that time showing how enrollment for out of state students had ballooned (As someone from Atlanta, I personally didn't know jack about Alabama before senior year of HS and only applied there because they were throwing money at anyone with decent grades). NYTimes and Forbes had an article about it some years ago too.

It wasn't all Saban but the exposure the school got because of the football program was pretty crazy

If anything it's going to require more qualifications for engineers so when fancy black box AI application spits out something that doesn't work or isn't plausible, they can work to address what went wrong instead of praying for divine intervention that it works eventually

TC typically makes dumb topics but I agree with the premise as elitist as it sounds. If I ever have kids, they can do whatever they want when they grow up but they will at least know something STEM that they can fall back on if they ever need it

Division 2. You have content creators for that game making almost daily videos where they legit bully PVE players that enter the PVP area to farm while laughing like psychopaths. One in particular, LyricalFighter, has been whining for the last half year that he's low level compared to other players, and it's because he voluntarily spends all of his time bullying players which gives you shit XP compared to PVE modes.

And then currently the PVE players turned toxic because some of the holier than thou types didn't do an easy XP farm (higher PVE levels after 1k just allows you to buy more materials for crafting/optimizing gear that's literally it no other advantage) so they are hella jealous of anyone with a high level even if they didn't do that farm.

Every update introduces a serious bug or xp exploit that bogs down the servers when a lot of players decide to run them. A funny thing they added to pad the amount of time players would spend playing the game is an expertise system to add to your weapon damage and your gear armor. Great idea except it's really only worthwhile for PVP and longtime players with higher levels have a huge advantage for farming that, so the gap between newbie players and older players is even wider. I'm nowhere near the best PVPer but being level 10k+ with maxed out gear I can and already have solo wrecked 4-man squads of newbies by barely trying

I don't care about cars as collectibles or reselling it some time in the future for a higher price, but I want to get in on the Lexus hybrids pretty soon before Toyota and other car companies go full capitalism and have every feature be a subscription
