Heavily disagree on both fronts. Lloyd is fine personality wise but is the most boring protagonist story wise in the series, and Rean is one of the most interesting and is heavily misunderstood by people that don't pay attention to dialogue.

Well the problem is that Bracers are literally RPG Protagonists: The Guild. They designed an institution that's description is literally "do everything you normally do in a video game".

So they kind of have to keep justifying why you are basically just copying the Bracers homework every time they make a non-Bracer protagonist.

I think Sky has the weakest cast in the series with only a few standouts honestly

Which isn't to say I dislike the cast, just that both Crossbell and Cold Steels casts are better on average.

Schera is weird in that when she's being a serious character she's actually pretty good, but any and all 'comedy' attempts they try with her are awful.

Cassius annoyed me while I was playing through Trails initially. I still don't really like him, but I appreciate what they did with his story.

Haha... yeah... imagine doing either and not being a teen... Couldn't be me that marathoned the entire released series after Sky SC when I finished it (which at the time was SC, 3rd, Cold Steel 1, and Cold Steel 2 back to back).

And am currently in the middle of replaying the Cold Steel games...

Anyway, re: the church being the counter to Ouroboros. So interestingly, Kondo, the lead writer/head of Falcom, said in an interview a while back that he specifically wanted the church in the Trails games to be unambiguously a force for good. It might have a few bad apples here and there across the series (including Weissman himself), but for the most part its one of the "Big Goods". The reason is that Kondo was tired of the trope of "the church is secretly evil", basically.

(You were suppose to single target them btw, they only use earthquakes in retaliation to getting hit. Using AoE = you get massacred. Hitting one at a time = you only take one earthquake per round)

Yeah it is dumb and you don't get the unresolved plotlines, well, resolved if you don't bring them.
Luckily after Sky they realized its dumb and just pretty much always make it mandatory to bring party members with connections to bosses when you fight them.

lol no all of Trails treats alcohol like that. There's another character in Cold Steel who does the same thing (I do think she is a better character than Schera overall though).

It should be noted that Japan has a CRAZY problem with alcohol and it is beyond even culturally accepted and more of a cultural expectation that everyone drinks. Not really excusing it, just pointing out that's probably why. It annoys me too.

Not as of yet, but it very well could be at some point. How? Dunno.

Three and Nine is SUPER relevant to Reverie, however.

All of the Trails books are at least somewhat relevant to the story and/or characters (or will be in the future).

I still play every once in awhile and yeah, absolutely crazy changes. It's so much it is hard to wrap my head around.

I'm surprised to see that some people hated it.

Without going into too much detail because this isn't really the place for it, I don't feel it continues the plot or themes in a meaningful way. Feels more like a straight-to-DVD sequel story with half the cast acting super OOC that is just made mandatory before getting the actual ending after the natural endpoint of the story told up to that point.

Brings a game I would say is a 10/10 or very close down to like an 8.5/10 imo.

Also it doesn't help there is an ACTUAL 'straight-to-DVD' sequel that is actually good and 100% ignores Royal's plot editions too in Strikers.

Renne definitely top 5 characters at least.
Tio is my favorite though (not the one from Sky that is Estelle's friend).

The new part of the story sucks but the gameplay is much improved.
If you couldn't do Golden though, I don't think Royal will hold your attention either.

Shang-Chi and Black Panther 2 were both good
Black Widow and Dr. Strange I had major problems with but were watchable
Eternals was bad
Thor 4 was garbage

Spiders might not actually be insects but they are close enough to my mind and I HATE insects with a passion. Fear, disgust, whatever. So spiders.

Snakes can be kinda cool. Obviously there are very dangerous varieties and you should never mess with wild ones of almost any type, but I've known some people with pet snakes and they can be pretty neat. I'd never have one, personally, but still.

The fight with the penguin can be a real PITA if you get unlucky enough because it can confuse your entire party before it is physically possible to get... either more than 1 or any, I don't remember, ways to resist it.

Its especially bad on hard and nightmare where its HP is bloated the damage it does is much more. It's the only other fight on hard/nightmare I consider to be truly unfair after the prologue (though it is, at least, optional)

Saw it earlier this afternoon.

It was great.

So they, for some reason, years and years ago decided to give Trails in the Sky a very short anime adaption that only adapted chapter 2 of SC.

It's really not worth watching in general, but it did give us this gem of a gif:

Also I actually have a pretty fun fact about Anelace from an interview a few years ago with one of the devs. The devs originally didn't plan her to be a character at all. She was just some random faceless NPC bracer in the initial stages of development, but they realized when they were designing the tournament section of FC they wanted the Bracers to be one of the teams, so they needed another one to join. Thus, Anelace was given a slightly more prominent role, as well as a face portrait.

Then, when FC came out, JP players really liked Anelace because of her dialogue and overall attitude (plus being cute) and a common request on fan websites was that Anelace be a playable character in SC. So they made her playable for a bit in SC.

Then people liked her EVEN MORE and were like "Why isn't she playable for all of SC!?" and, well, you can probably guess what they did for 3rd lol.

Truly a character of the people. She is invincible! ...Or is she?

I thought the gameplay was pretty fun but it also wasn't good enough to want to play beyond the story. It felt like there was enough.

I think its really cool how they tell the story in the DLC without really using words, after spending the entire base game being READ ALL THE THINGS.

Its established that the Hearthians knowledge of space and space travel is EXTREMELY new in-story and their knowledge of it at all is shaky at best. Why WOULD they know anything about it? Youre just making a lot of assumptions on your own that directly contradict what is in the game and then getting upset at it because it doesnt match what you made up.

Yeah its kind of a bad/dumb question because 3rd is really relevant to the plot in a lot of ways so there's not really a good answer to what was asked.

Well the game can be beaten at any time upon starting a new game because of how its structured, so it doesn't really matter.

I think doing the DLC now is fine if you want to. You definitely want to wait until you've done everything else in the base game though before doing the DLC at all (ie you don't want to accidentally stumble onto it before learning everything else).

Also you mentioned you did the Quantum Moon but did you go to the 6th location?

The game actually went through a *lot* of revisions and cuts, it was originally suppose to be much more choices driven and have multiple full narrative splits based off decisions you made within each characters stories.

In some ways, it's arguably for the best it got cut down as much as it did, because that sounds like a mess waiting to happen and its already super impressive how complicated the story of the game is yet works so well.
