Only by absolute #, but even per population, it is indeed among the top 3. That said, it's also a very proactive state when it comes to address the issue.

Highest taxes.
Depends on what you mean. Their income and sales tax tends to be high, while property tax is quite low, and they are about average in excise taxes. As an aggregate, likely top 5, which is pretty much not unexpected for the richest/biggest state.

Ozmose posted...
Highest housing prices.
Hawaii is actually number 1, but CA seems to be #2. Again, makes sense, given it's a state everyone wants to live in with a massive population. Your milage will vary, of course: housing prices in SF and LA don't come close to resembling cheaper prices away from the coast. Income to house prices is a better aggregate to use.

Ozmose posted...
Highest illiteracy rate.
Statistics are all over the place with this, but no, California is not the top on this - most South states and NM are far worse. Interesting, most studies show all Mexican border states rank low, which is of little surprise - on the question of English literacy, all states with high Latino immigrant populations fare poorly, and CA has the largest population of such by far. So, moot point anyways.

Ozmose posted...
Most stupid laws and regulations.
Pretty generic claim and would need to be more specific.

Ozmose posted...
Crime through the roof.
False. Be it violent, property, of a mix of the 2, CA is average when it comes to that. Especially with violent crime. "crime through the roof" states are almost entirely all Red states.

Ozmose posted...
Atrocious land and resource management.
Again, pretty broad claim that would need more specifics.

The dungeons so far seem like a compramise between BotW style and traditional style. To varying levels of enjoyability.
I've only done the Wind Temple so far, and I kind of feel that.

The design of a giant floating ark is kickass and feels epic, but the interior is a pretty lame copy and paste of the same art design, and it's pretty damn empty. It's a ship so I guess it makes sense to not have a "temple-y" design, but finding 6 wind machines to power also felt like a let down. Whereas the Divine Beasts didn't feel like temples, but had temple-like mechanic (i.e., rotate the entire building to solve the puzzle, etc.).

That said, the boss was epic, if easy.

I mean, not that it matters, but I've long been an advocate of people getting more creative with names.
Naming your kid Joe/Michael/Sara/Megan in 2023 just feels lazy.

Keep in mind, these are just the fastest rising names in popularity, not that the names listed are popular per se. And corruption spelling of common names (Kacey instead of Casey or w/e) is dumb to me, but I don't mind creative names otherwise (assuming it's not Blanket or Apple or w/e).
Wrenlee is close to Winry, which has always been a personal favorite of mine (think FMA), so that doesn't bother me.

Dutton makes me think of a dude that lives on a ranch.

It was a PS2 game that got ported to the Wii, and is now ported to the Switch with online play. So the graphics look very cartoonist and dated, but that's not the point.

Dubbed the "friendship destroying" game, I think only SSBB and maybe Mario Kart git more play on my Wii with this game.

It's basically a board game RPG hybrid, with job and class leveling, exp. gain, boss battles, etc., over a board game board that is massive, with items, magic spells, loot, caves and hidden dungeons, etc. scattered about. The normal way to play is set the game to end in X amount of "weeks", and whoever has the most net value is gold wins, which can be gained in a variety if ways. But beware! You can attack your fellow players at will, and defeating them in battle means you can steal their gear, rename their character (often something very offensive), and more.

Best played in person so everyone can witness the bullshit together. It has a decently single player mode and campaign, too, but playing with other people in the same room is the real joy. Think Mario Party/Fortune Street, but on a much bigger scale with RPG mechanics.

Then he completely exposes him self with the "I'm tired of left wing politics in my nerdom, despite the fact that I (apparently) willingly went to a board about politics and got modded for breaking the rules."

If 261 ws "toxic", it was because it had a dedicated base of full-time shit posters such as this. But that's what the ignore button is for.

If you really believe that then either you got lucky or you just didn't browse there enough.
Considering I was a regular there for something like 15 years I'd say I browsed there long enough. Of course, I'm highly suspicious of what people are considering "toxic."

A dedicated small group, some with clear mental health issues making dozens upon dozens of new alt accounts so they can troll one board certainly could be called toxic, but they were easy to identify and ignore. Certainly the non-trolls fed the trolls with abandon, which could be considered toxic.

Otherwise, it was mainly political discourse, which is chippy by default. But nowhere neat enough to warrant this.

All.that said, I'm going to assume you have an alt, because I never once saw you on 261, which makes your stances on the matter look quite suspicious.

Politics was a lot more severe than you think. There's nothing absurd about taking down possibly the most toxic board in all of the site. The idea that game boards are much worse is laughable.
No, game boards are far more vile and toxic. 261 had a handful of pathetic dedicated career trolls that would make countless new accounts every day to troll it. Outside of that and the idiotic habit of posters there to fall for (or willing go to) this troll bait, it really wasn't toxic.

That said, Allen's more in depth explanation gave up the game by admitting they wanted it gone because the mods were complaining. Which is dumb for many reasons, the biggest of which is that public requests to make common sense measures (like drastically raising the karma limit) implemented were ignored, so Allen can spare me the QQ on the burden that they could have fixws long ago.

Honestly, this is whole-sale absurd.

Closing an entire board by some random 26 year old from the *checks notes* company that bought GFaqs (that was happening?) using flimsy corporate boiler plate logic is bush league shit.

It doesn't even make sense. All politic discussions boards are to cease because of online security and trust? What the blue hell does that mean? And Christ, if abusive language on 261 is the benchmark, you might as well fold GFaqs entirely. God forbid they take a look at the game boards. Makes stuff like 261 look like chump change.

This is wholesale ridiculous and will just unleash the 10 or so trolls that made a billion accounts to troll 261 either here or 261 (most likely). If you have a website with non-video game centric forums, political discussions are inevitable. Not only is a ban on something like 261 pointless, but it deserves a better explanation than the weak and confusing one given.

It dethroned 1 as my favourite game ever. It's a good time. Opinions do vary quite a bit on it, though, and I can understand why. Delving into that debate would require extensive story spoilers, though, and this is not the place for that, nor would I want to rob you of the opportunity to experience them in-context.

2 is... complicated. Once the battle system comes into its own and you've got all the tools to work with and you've done the necessary grinding to bring all the better blades up to the point of being useful and you've looked up some online guides to take the place of the useless in-game tutorials, it's got a ton of strategic depth and build versatility and is just plain fun to play around with. It just takes bloody forever to get there and nothing about the main story experience actually encourages you to explore it beyond "DOUBLE SPINNING EDGE!", plus it's not intuitive enough for anyone to stumble on that depth without seriously trying to study it (which just means watching Enel's videos, for most people, but still). In the same vein, the story gets really interesting once it starts to focus on developing the characters meaningfully and exploring their motivations and the philosophical themes driving the whole game, but you're like 70-75% of the way through the game by the time you get to that.

There's a lot of really good stuff in 2, but the pacing is terrible and the anime tropes are a little too heavy-handed for me to really enjoy wading through them. I definitely still like it overall, but by contrast I quite prefer 1's more straightforward storytelling and gameplay pacing.
I basically agree with all of this about 2. Once it gets going, it's great, but it takes a long ass time to get there.

Tell me, does X3 have the battle announcer that yells out OUTSTANDING and MAGNIFICENT and whatnot? That cab stay forever.

I always give OoT the edge, because it's a "traditional" Zelda game, and generally is longer and has more stuff to see and do than MM.

But I put MM right up there for the opposite reason- how different and dark it is, the insane music, the atypical combat with masks, etc. They are both very different games in ways, which makes me.love both equally. Or nearly equally.

And you don't believe that "this might be something cool we can add to BotW" can evolve into "this concept could be the basis for a whole new game" as the team worked on it? I don't doubt that the idea started as DLC, I just don't know why people are so obsessed with that fact when it means pretty much nothing about whether or not the game as a whole is robust enough to stand alone.
That and MM literally just reused all of OoT's assets and managed to make a remarkable and very different game off of it. I.e., even if the DLC claim is true, not sure what the point is. Or where people are getting the no dungeon and weapons stuff.
